Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer ďainít fer the wee ladsĒ

A light, orange colour with a scent of dried fruits and a smokey aftertaste, generally a nice beer and if available around my parts, a deffinate buy.

Bottle from the Lincoln Beer Festival. Deep ruby colour with a tan head. Dark fruity aroma, taste is toffee sweet. May be just a touch to sweet.

From bottle. (aged). Pours unclear mahogany with a beige head. Aroma of ripe plums, caramel, butterscotch, some plums, figs and nice sweet malts in general. Taste is sweet but with some bitterness as well. Bitter nuts, caramel, ripe sweet fruits and some weak sweet esters. Ends with a weak almost vinous note at the end. Very good!

Bottle, deep brown beer, a little almond colored froth. Aroma is malt an caramel, raisin, faint vanilla. Taste is caramely malt, raisin and dark fruit, faint coffee, cola, some clove even. Finish even has a bit of anise. Palate is smooth and rich, carbonation subdued. This is super. If all scotch ales were this good it might be my favorite style!

One of the best beers in one of the best categories of beer: Scottish style ale. Medium-full body with a long finish. Very malty and roasty. Finishes clean. Overall a good beer drinking experience.

Tap at Apex, post CBC A: Brown bordering on mahogany, creme head, some lacing. N: Toffee, leather, ample malt, hints of smoke, some vanilla and wood undertones, peppercorn and earth from (I assume) the hops, rounded out with raisin and prune. T: Quite sweet, a bit of char and bitterness to balance. M: Medium body, creamy carbonation, hint of alcohol. O: A tasty toasty Scotch ale. One of the foremost in Foundersí arsenal, and a beer I would be more than happy to have again. Will be curious to compare this to Alesmithís Wee Heavy.

Pours a dark ruby color. Rich, thick, foamy head, that lasts about halfway through, and then thin for the rest of it. Nice consistent lacing throughout.

Nose is deep roasted malt. It also smells a little of burnt toast. I can also smell some fruitiness and some alcohol.

First taste is sweet, followed by some bitterness. Thereís some bitter finish, but not too much. Also some alcohol at the finish. Itís malty, and a little grainy, but itís smoother than you would expect. Similar to a porter, it tastes like coffee and caramel. Itís pretty well balanced, with each sip you have to wonder...will it be sweet, or will it be bitter?

Mouthfeel is medium-heavy. Itís a 50 IBU beer, but it doesnít really taste all that bitter. It finishes a little bitter, sometimes. But itís not all that bitter. Itís a little heavy to be sessionable, but the smoothness and the sweetness counters that.

Overall, itís very tasty. 8.5% ABV, really? You really wouldnít know it. This one is a dandy!
