Commercial Description:
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

Bottle. Moderate aromas of roasted and caramel for the malt, herbs for the hops, with hints of date and brown sugar. Head is small, wispy, off-white with fair lacing and good legs, and is mostly diminishing. Color is dark brownish red. Flavor starts lightly to moderately sweet and acidic, then the long finish is lightly sweet and acidic, and moderately bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, oily, with a lively carbonation and a moderately astringent and very dry finish. The flavor in this Scotch Ale leans towards dry and bitter unlike others I’ve had, which is why I like this so much. Thanks Hopscotch.

Pours dark reddish-brown with a minimal off-white head. Aroma is lots of caramel, dark fruit and some alcohol. Not much peet smoke in the aroma. The flavor is very fruity and sweet. Not too much smoke. You get a little roasted malt and the alcohol is present and warming. Medium mouthfeel and pretty drinkable for a beer of this strength.

Pours a translucent dark tea with a mocha head. Faint nose of sweet malts. Nice sweet flavor with a slight toffee note. Great mouthfeel and nice clean finish.

Bottle, bought @ Ølbutikken, Cph.
A fabolous deep red with some slight brownish edges. Beautiful, creamy, yellow to off-white creamy head. Great duration. A definite 5 on the looks. Sweet caramel aroma, lightly toasted, some fruity hops, light raisin, red currants and strawbeeries. Medium to high carbonation, rather prickly. Fine, creamy and dry mouthfeel. Flavour is nice, sweet, caramel, a bit of roasted malts and chocolate. Some berries and a lovely fruity bitterness. Really lovely, actually.

Bottle (8,5% ABV). A ligtly hazy dark red beer with a medium sized, mostly diminishing, beige head. The aroma is powerful and very malty and quite hoppy. There are notes of toasted grains, caramel, grapefruit, sugar, peat and some alcohol. The flavour is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic. lightly bitter. Lightly sticky, but enjoyable. Medium to full body, soft to lively carbonation, quite long finish with medium bitterness, lightly alcoholic. A cross between a Scotch ale and an American Strong ale, because of its overhopping for the style (but not so much). Interesting.

Bottle. Pours a hazy brown with a thin beige head. Malty with some toast and caramel notes, and just barely a feint hint of alcohol. Smooth, medium bodied, lots of malty caramel flavors. Light warming alcohol with some toast and hop bitterness.

Deep ruby color, small steady beige head. Nutty and bready aroma. Toffeish, rye-bready, some chocolate. Aftertaste is strongly hopped and spicey (chili). Interesting spicey-toffeish Scotch ale.

Pours dark brown with a reddish tint. Aroma is similar to what you’d expect from a porter, instead of a scotch ale. Smallish tan head. Taste is great. Chocolate was most noticeable for me, with a slightly fruity aftertaste. Delicious.

Excellent U S Scotch Ale... Nice follow up to last weeks Double Bock. Not for the timid.
