Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer ďainít fer the wee ladsĒ

Here in CT we have "Ten Penny Ale", which is also a flagship scotch ale, from a different brewery. But, Ten Penny is more of a session beer - not on the same level as this monster. Very strong flavor, lots of alcohol and smoked malt. A good choice for whisky drinkers. Lots of caramel sweetness and roasted malts as well. Resiny hops for balance. Very impressive.

Pours dark brown with decent head. At first didnít get a lot of flavor, but complexity started to show as beer warmed up a bit. Taste of raosted malts predominate. I didnít notice any smoke. Very enjoyable.

Reddish brown with tan head. Soft aroma, sweet caramel. Taste is sweet, caramel, malty, mild alcohol and no bitterness. Medium to full body. Very good but I get no hops and no smoke. Wonder if I got an old bottle. Feel like Iím drinking curmudgeon.

12oz bottle thanks to Rob. Pours a reddy brown color with a bit of head. Smooth easy going Scottish ale. Nice spice, lots of malt and good alcohol balance.

Brown/deep red appearance with a light brown head. Smells of scotch, sweet toffee and malts. Tasting a very slight coffee with toffee and molasses. Thereís some spice in there with with a hint of gently burnt toffee. The sweetness and bitterness balance out really well - this is an extremely well rounded beer. Really dense mouth feel, gentle carbonation and beautiful lingering thick after feel. This is great.

Pure caramel and burnt sugar followed by spicy toffiness and a thick sugary hit with an even coating of the mouth both in flavour and bitterness. The 8% is hidden perfectly

Dirty Bastard is basically everything you want a Scotch Ale to be: boozy, rich, complex. Providing an excellent balance between bitter and malty, Founders did a fantastic job of giving some spicy edge to this immense malt bomb on an ale. Flavors of dark fruits, toffee, smoked peat, and roasted malt make the strongest impressions. Expect a full-bodied mouthfeel with some pleasant alcohol warmth (and added sweetness), as well. This ale may be called Dirty Bastard, but it certainly makes a clean getaway.

355 ml. bottle. Clear, amber to deep red colour with a thin, lightly tanned head. Sweet aroma with caramel malts, overripe fruits, light smoke and peat. Toasted malt and toffee. Light booze. Rather rich. Taste is sweet. Full body with an oily texture and a soft carbonation. Long lasting dry finish with floral hops and a peat note. A rather rich beer - the smoked notes and hops mellows down the malts. Good.
