COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer ďainít fer the wee ladsĒ

Amber/brown color, fizzy tan head, mild lacing. Aroma of roasty malt / molasses. Flavor is chocolate and roasty malt. The chocolate is not overly sweet. There is a minor bitterness in the flavor. Medium bodied with a sryupy, dry finish. A good one, or two, or three...

12 Fl. Oz. Poured reddish brown, with a light brown head and some spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoke, alcohol and caramel. Taste of dark fruit, malts, booze and caramel. Enjoyable, interesting, quite good.

35cl bottle. Clear dark ruby pour with a very small tan lacing. Smells of caramel and bourbon. Super smooth mouthfeel. Tastes like bourbon, caramel, toffee, very well balanced. An excellent scotch ale.

Thereís just something about good Scotch ales...the caramelly toffee flavor, the smooth maltyness that fills your mouth, and the smokey, alcohol-tinged finish. This is definitely a good Scotch ale.

Massive and lingering light brown head under a extremely dark Amber body. Slick and smooth but not thick. Sweet with some alcohol bite at the end.

I donít have too much experience with this style, but I recently enjoyed a few glasses of Orkney Skull Splitter on tap at the Foundry, and found that authentically Scottish Heavy Ale to be much preferable to this one. Poured a bottle of Dirty into a tall thin tulip and got some head. Reddish brown in color and smelling of darker malts, I drank it too cold at first and it was good, but lacking character, so I let it warm up for a while, and as it did, it fell apart into disparate components. It certainly is a complex mix of flavors, which arenít Scottish and donít really work well together. Pretty reminiscent of Lagunitas Brown Shugga with a bunch of extra things thrown in, smokiness, hoppiness, bitterness, molasses-ness, dark fruitiness and so on.
