Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer ďainít fer the wee ladsĒ

Bottle. The pour was a murky medium brown with a copper hue and had an average sized (1-2 finger) light brown rocky head that dissipated quickly but left a thin layer of foam that created some fair lacing. The aroma was a bit on the sweet side with roasted bread malts, an herbal hop and a sweet doughy yeast with notes of raisons, molasses and a mild alcohol scent. The taste was sweet and malty with a hint of molasses in the beginning and finished a bit bitter, with a touch of raisons and a mild alcohol tinge at the end that left the flavor to linger for a nice long while. Mouthfeel was somewhere between medium and full in body and was rather dry in texture with a soft carbonation. Overall an extremely tasty brew with the alcohol flavor kept to a minimum, yet still allowing for a nice warming sensation after the swallow.

Aroma is light caramel and a hint of corn. Appearance is dark brown ruby red with small frothy head. Taste is large malt up front, raisin plum, hint of roast. Some hop bitterness but still a malt forward beer. Bit of earthiness. Palate is medium and crisp. Bitterness lingers. Overall not bad. Arrogant Bastard is far superior. Lacking the malt depth I expected. Maybe I got an old bottle. High IBUís not helping the malt, definately too high for a Scottish.

Btl pours a burgandy color with a big off white head that dissapates quickly leaving lace all over glass. Smells of earth, wood, toast, alcohol and Tastes of sweet toffee, roasty grain, vanilla, molasses, nuts and a hint of chocolate. Medium to heavy body, bold chewy viscous mouthfeel, clean, smooth slightly alcoholic finish. Very nice well balanced and extremely flavorful beverage. Clear dark ruby, tanned lacing lasting foam head. Sweet hoppy barley aroma, quite nice. Bittersweet taste, lots of fruit tones, leving smoky bitter aftertaste. (Cleveland 201510)

Bottle at The Roebuck, Leek (Titanic) A clear ruby brown colour with a medium tan head. Aroma of bready and a little roasted malt, some chocolate, raisin, toffee and wood. Taste of toffee, caramel, chocolate, bready malt, subtle smoke, raisin, some prune, wood and slight brown sugar. Full bodied and moderate carbonation. A warming, slightly roasted chocolate bitterness in the finish. Mainly chocolatey and fruity with a little bitterness. A great take on a traditional scotch ale, lovely.

Pours from the bottle a dark brown with a fine tan head that lingers and fades quickly. First bite is roasted malt, caramel, a little sweet. For an 8.5 the alcohol isnít overly pronounced, but it does add a pleasant warmth to the finish which is complex enough to keep me coming back.

Deep ruby with a short lived tan head. Sweet, rich malty goodness with a hint of smoke, peat and wood... Iíd almost think it had been barrel aged. Nice hop presence which balances the sweetness well, making sure it isnít cloying. Lovely stuff.
