Courtesy of Peter. Clear light amber with a white head. Nice floral, grassy hop aromas. Smooth medium body. Nice earthy floral hop flavors on a sweet caramel malty base .

Bottle thanks to peter. Golden pour with a nice haze and white head. Aroma was floral hops, caramel and citrus hops. Flavor of spice, citrus, and nice long lasting hops. The alcohol was hidden well.

A golden beer with just a hint of amber color. A one finger orange white head had good retention and sticks to the glass. Aroma is a nice mix of tart citrus and floral hop with caramel. Flavor is grainy with citrus and floral hop notes. Does this have Simcoe in it? As the beer warms some light pepper spice shows up. A deep bitterness grows and cascades. There is little effort to balance the tartness but there is some sweeter fruit effects. This beer is indeed a mouthful of hops with a nice mix of hop varieties. Very well done!

Draught at Eulogy, Phila. Poured into a thick and clunky chalice. An attractive hazy golden with a thin head, leaving spotty lacing. For some strange reason I couldn’t pick up much on the aroma, just some traces of floral and tangerine hops. Could have been the glass, who knows? Started out like a top tier 2IPA, with a great presence of citrusy and floral hops, but after a while this seemed to become muddled and overly sweet in the malts, combining to create a sticky, peachy flavor. Certainly enjoyable after a five mile walk around Philly, but I wanted more of that 2IPA super resiny astringency on the finish to cut into the sweetness.

UPDATED: APR 21, 2009 Clever, funny picture on the label. Fluffy head and sheet lacing. Terrific sweet, floral aroma with a touch of malt and pine. The taste is charged up with lots of hops that linger into the aftertaste. This has astringent, almost salty, pine and grapefruit flavors that come close to being too harsh Double Trouble is a potent IPA that will score big with any hop fanatic.

bottle poured into a snifter... pours a brilliant golden with an average white head which carries to a nice lacing. solid citrus hop aromas... but not over the top. big mouth feel with lots of hops - citrus and some pine. bigger on the sides, while light and fresh up top. the malt balances quite well... big spicy citrus finish on the tip and the bitterness sticks with you for a long time..... the hops really take hold of your palate.... excellent IIPA... wouldn’t expect anything different from Founders.

Very. very good IPA. Hops are everywhere, start to finish. Ends with a nice dry hopped finish. Aroma is great. The appearance is the only thing I could find fault with, it looks more like a pilsner or even a pale lager than an IPA. But 9+ on the alc more than makes up for it.

UPDATED: MAY 18, 2009 On-Tap - This IPA tries too hard. Its intensely bitter, extremely over-hopped, and is very one dimensional in flavor. The sharp bite of the pine and resin hops prevents you from tasting anything else, and it goes down like knives. Not an enjoyable IPA.

12 oz. bottle to a Czech Pils glass. Poured a clear golden hue, with a modest, white foamy head and intermittent, but good lacing. The aroma was an eyebrow raising hop profile of strong resiny pine and citrus. The malt was present to smooth out the edges. The flavor boasted the same strong profile with the balancing malt and a hint of candy sweetness. The hop dryness and bitterness were consistent and welcome through the finish.

Bottle. Pours a light orange color with a big fluffy head. Aromas of hops, pine, citrus and spices. Taste of hops, citrus and spices. Flavor is bold and bitter with light malt lingering in back which makes it nicely balanced. Overall a good brew.
