12 oz bottle - hazy golden color with tiny pure white head that dissipates quickly but leaves some lacing. Aroma has definite citrusy hops, lots of apricot and grapefruit, but comes off a bit watery in the aroma, just not much to support the hops. Flavor is fairly hoppy, notable grapefruit and lemon zest, a faint touch of maltyness, with a firmly bitter, slightly harsh finish. Itís just alright. Iím not sure why I seem to have quite a different opinion than everyone else - this just really seemed average to me - not bad, just not that good compared to the myriad of double IPAs out there nowadays.

UPDATED: JAN 30, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours light orange with a medium white head. Aroma of hops with some citrus and pine. The flavor is dominated by bitter, dry hops and is not as balanced as I expected, especially with the first sip. Halfway through, however, the hops seemed to mellow out with more floral notes. A very nice DIPA.

UPDATED: MAY 7, 2009 Update. If this isnít the best IPA/IIPA Iíve had so far then itís very close (which of course doesnít say much since Columbus doesnít have access to many top tier IPAs to begin with). For anyone who happens to be reading my ratings, I felt I should mention that this was stunning in the month following its release, after which it dropped off dramatically. Of course my numbers are for the fresh version. With 2+ months, itís more like 7 4 7 3 15 3.6. Not that it matters, but IMO this beats this winterís PtE and the last two yearsí Hopslams. 2007 Hopslam would be very close though.

Very clear pale amber, thin head; Sticky lacing. Aroma: mango passionfruit grapefruit, my faavorite, i luv it. Very clean flavor and bone dry. A ton of resiny bitter grapefruit hops. rather floral, bitter in the best way. Very tightly held together and focused. Never becomes tiring. So good it forces me to contemplate the meaning and purpose of hops. I really want another, but I know thatís just asking for double trouble...

Bottle. Aroma has notes of citrus, pine, cat knip. Medium golden amber hue with a small off white head that left good lace. Flavor is sweet then spicy then bitter. Palate is medium full to full bodied and oily soft. A good IIPA with a big bittet finish.

Bottled. Poured lighter coppery-golden with a short dusting of off-white head. The aroma picked up deeper floral, cat pee, and rich grapefruit hoppage over caramel and citrus meat.. hops really stood out. The flavor had caramel and some fruity meat again at the core, with the hops leading again (resiny grapefruit, floral, and piney).. finished spicy, bitter, and warm with more floral and citrus. Medium-bodied with moderate rolling carbonation.. spicy and warm throughout with very nice balance. Good one.

Bottle. Pours a light orange color with a small head. Aromas are absolutely loaded with hops... amazing mix of citrus and evergreen. Flavor has a wicked sharp edge to it... almost like eating pine needles or something. Unabashedly hoppy but there is a thickness to it that goes nicely with all those hops. Sweetness from the malt shines through every now and again (maybe it just happens when my tastebuds are dizzy and worn out from all the hops... momentarily shutting down. Anyhow, at first I thought the hops was just too much... now, about half way through a glass I canít get enough.

Iím going to start off by saying that this beer unbelievable. But that can go many different ways. It could have been the best beer ever, but itís not. Itís aroma is fantastic, it smells liike a hop field. The appearance is an amazing golden amber with an offwhite head. And then thereís the flavor. Itís basically ALL hops. I know all these other beers like Hopslam and 90 minute IPA say there all hops, etc. but they are very well balanced with hops and malt to the point where it makes a fantastic, memorable brew. That is where this fails. It really is just all hops. No citrusy, sweet goodness to speak of. sorry for the long rating, I just needed to get that off my chest. And Iím kinda buzzed from all this beer. Cheers!

12oz bottle. Pours a cloudy orange amber with a minimal white head. Some malty sweetness in the nose, along with plenty of hop, orange and grapefruit. Crisp hop flavor that is somewhat peppery and a bite in the finish. World class.

Walked into my local store, and hooray, new Founderís today! This is kind of a pumped up Centenial IPA. Pours a clear golden color with short head and very nice lacing. Aroma is citrus peel and sweet bright fruit (tropical). Perfect body for the flavor, not too thick. Flavor is sweet at first, reminds me of clementines and pineapples, followed by some bright hops and a nice lingering finish. Why only a 4 pack?

golden yellow, very low srm for an ipa, which is nice. mild head and mild carbonation. piney and citrusy hop nose. spicy hop flavor with definite centennial usage, wondering if they through any rye in here. not much malt character but alcohol adds some depth. very good hop flavor. good and interesting brew
