An imperial IPA that was brewed to turn your world upside down. Hops have got you coming and going. Pungent aromatics up front paired with a malt balanced backbone and a smooth bitter finish. 86 IBUs.

Bottle. Slightly hazy, deep gold in colour with next to no head. Aroma of grapefruit and orange hops with some sweet malts. Sweet, slightly strange flavour of orange squash and barley sugar, with a very dry grapefruit hop finish. Not my kind of beer.

Off balanced, overly hopped and citrusy. All in a very good way. Hands down my favorite 2IPA these days.

Appearance: touch on the lighter side with respect to hue; above average head retention on a white to off-white head; hazy indicating an unfiltered characteristic Aroma: rather intense citrus; tropical pineapple, kiwi, lemon, lime, orange; smells more like a fruit salad than a beer; not necessarily a bad thing (as long as it tastes more like a beer than a fruit salad!); also grapefruit Flavor: intense citrus continues; medium -high bitterness; very little malt presence; high carbonation and moderate fruit component Palate: definitely dry; high carbonation; no to little astringency; more crisp than smooth

Courtesy of kiefdog. Pours slightly hazy gold with thin white head. Looks as a double IPA should with that heavy dry hop haze. The aroma is full with citrus sweet tangelo and grapefruit to go along with a solid sweet malty backbone. Great aroma. I get big tasty notes all across my palate as I swill in the first sip with rich malts leading quickly into full tangelo hop flavors that bleed into grapefruit hop bitterness. It evens out into the finish with lingering citrus hop bitterness. Wow, very nice brew.

Rating from February. Bottle from Roziís in Lakewood Ohio. I tried this along with Bells Hopslam. Pours amber with a white head. Very nice citrusy aroma. Medium bodied with average carbonation. The pale malt backbone is very west coast like, staying out of the way to let the hop grapefruit rind and piney bitterness take over. Not as sweet as Hopslam, and much drier and grassier. This was good, but I think this one has a very short shelf life like Pliney, as this bottle did not seem fresh.

Had this on tap at the Founders brewpub and oh my goodness, how tasty and fresh it was! Poured glowing orange with a small white head. Aroma is a beautiful blend of hops, citrus, grapefruit, pine pineapple with a nice sweet malty backbone. Really bites the nose nicely. Flavor is just as potent with very freshly squeezed hop oils. Not too bitter at all with just the right blend of fruity and floral. The balance of rich caramelized sugar gives it a nice leveling. Slightly bitter finish but not unpleasant in the least.Medium to full body and a relaxed carbonation. Amazing Imperial IPA. I may be biased having it straight from the brewery but it was nearly perfect.

12 oz bottle: Orange amber w/ a short lived, thin, white head. Alcohol legs on the glass. Initial aroma was grassy and piney, floral/lightly pineapple/grapefruity hops. Similar to Juicy Fruity gum. Not the gum aspect, but the overall character of the aroma. Toasty malt w/ a bit of caramel to help try to back up the hops in the aroma. Yeast seems mostly clean/ lightly fruity from hops! Flavor is well balanced between fruity/citrusy/floral hops and toasty malt. Hop dominant flavor up front and actually throughout, but not overly hoppy due to malt flavor balance to keep it in check. Finish is herbal and medium dry, citrusy, touch grassy and slightly alcoholic in flavor. A lingering persistant bitterness lasts into the aftertaste which is apparently hop flavored. Full bodied, medium carbonation, lightly astringent from hops, but well taken. I like the overall complexity, which seems to come mostly from the hops. Very well made! A little side note: Iím picking up licorice as it warms. Obviously not from licorice/anise, but the combination of the hops and alcohol.

Pours hazy with golden color. Aroma of floral hops. Taste of strong citrus hop bite with tons of grapefruit. Biscuit flavor in the finish. Easy drinking and cannot tell it is 9.4%. Was expecting more from this one but it is still very good.
