3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Copper-orange pour into a snifter. The usual IIPA aroma. But the flavor is not that of an IIPA. I think it is very mild compared to some of the more well know michigan IPAís. Its not bad at all its very drinkable considering the Higher ABV. Very clean finish and very drinkable. And added point for the cool art work.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nice golden color with a small, somewhat creamy looking, canvas colored head. Big fruity aroma. Ruby red grapefruit, fresh squeezed orange juice, mango, and tropical fruit. Perhaps a bit sweet smelling, but it is fresh and lively. Light pale malt start that actually carries all the way through. A noble feat by any brewers standards. Middle has grapefruit flesh and zest and a touch of alcohol. Slightly warming in the stomach. Finish is rather citric and bitter. Linger is not real long, but I do seem to have some hops resin stuck in my mouth. Good stuff.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: MAY 14, 2011 Pours orange with little head. Aroma is grapefruit and malt. Flavor is citrus, honey, malt. Lots of bitterness. Mouthfeel is smooth and lingering with the bitterness. A little too malty and overall decent but the overall blend of flavors was not exceptional.
Updated for 2010
Seems like the maltiness has dropped and hops are stronger and even more citrus. Grapefruit explosion. I have enjoyed it more this year than the prior two years and am upping my rating accordingly.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap. Pours a slightly hazy golden amber color with a medium white head, nice lacing. Aroma is piney, grapefruit, hint of mango, light caramel. Flavor is grapefruit, pine, light caramel, spice. Palate is medium bodied, medium carbonation, finished dry and bitter. Very nice, alcohol well hidden, reminds me of their Harvest, this Imperial Harvest.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Had this one after a fresh hopslam. At first taste before i had rinsed my mouth at all it actually tasted quite similar to hopslam. After a few crackers a different beer appeared. It doesnt smell bad by any means but it just has a mix of hops that i have smelled before and i am just not particularly crazy about. Has some tropical and a little citrus and something else in there. Solid bitterness to this probably a little more than hopslam. Body is pretty thin which is a good thing for me. Not much alcohol in this really coming through. A good beer but not one that i would ever buy over hopslam when they are out at the same time and at the same cost per bottle. I just think the hop profile is a little too all over the place and not clean enough. I will drink of of these first then a hopslam sometime soon to see if that changes anything though.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle pours clear light orange color with a thin off white head that dissipates very quickly. Aroma smacks you in the face with citrus, made up of grapefruit and pineapple, subtle pine, and sweetness. No alcohol aroma. Has a medium mouthfeel and fair amount of carbonation that lends to a slight stinging sensation. Flavor follows the aroma with strong upfront pine bite, followed by subtle grapefruit and strong pineapple finish. The pineapple flavors lend a sweeter brew as a result. The alcohol is well hidden. Overall I enjoyed this. It met my need for a new hoppy beer.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Fresh stubby with cool artwork. Pours fairly light golden color with a soapy, medium sized, very condensed white head. Fantastic sheet, multi-ring lacing on this. Aroma is fantastically fresh hops. Bursting citrus and tropical fruit smell. Amarillo, Centennial? Really nice, strong, pungent, grassy with a pleasant malt undertone. Flavor is hoppy, bitter, clean and balanced. Slightly bitter finish. Dry, no astringency, though it is close to being too dry, which is fine because I find a lot of beers in this style to be overly sweet. Lingering flowery hop finish. One of Founderís better beers.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: JAN 1, 2012 doing a rerate I have one correction, I like this better than hopslam I 1st had this at a founders tasting at champanes in nov. from a growler. picked this up yesterday,I love the label will make your friends think they are drunk when you turn the bottle upside down. I had it after I had the hopslam. I liked the hopslam a little more then this was a little more balanced.. aroma sweetened grapefruit, pine, some pineapple. Flavor Little too sweet but still good, pineapple, grapefruit with a ton of sugar on it, alcohol, hints of malt and something I havenít tasted in a beer before that I can remember kiwi.Over all this is a very good beer for us hop heads.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle: Aroma is pineapple, really nice floral hop aroma, sweet, sugary, pine, and nicely pungent. Appearance is an almost clear golden color with a tinge on amber mixed in there. Taste is hops, acidic, pineapple is all over this, slight pine flavor, and almost sweet like a pop. Lingering bitterness and sticky hops on the tongue within the aftertaste. Overall, Nice stuff. Itís not as good as Hopslam, but if does give it a run for its money. Cheers!
