UPDATED: MAR 8, 2009 Pours a hazy, almost glowing, orange with a scant white head that nonetheless leaves some spotty lacing. Aroma is citric hops, with some floral and bubblegum elements. The nose alone makes me very happy. Flavor leads with some sweet gumball elements before hops kicks it, bitter, and then bittersweet on the finish, like lightly honeyed grapefruit pulp. A strong cereal element forms the background, hiding in plain sight among the bigger flavors. Just a touch of a rubbery element on the finish, but the beer is yummy in spite of it. Medium to full body, lovely buzz on the tongue from the hops and alcohol.

12 oz bottle. mostly clear bright pale orange witha nice sticky tacky white head and nice spotty lace. Piney and citrusy hops in the aroam- centennial and columbus noticed with a bit of white pine sap. Resinous hoppy pine sap flavor with some pine needles, orange zest citrus, and some minty notes with a very dry thin malty body which allows the raw hop bitterness to shine through. Very nice DIPA.

Pours a clear orange gold with a medium white head. Aroma of freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, pine needles and hops. Taste of grapefruit, mandarins, pine and bread dough. Very hoppy and another nice one from Founders.

Pours a slightly hazy golden orange with a fluffy white head with gold specks.... Wonderful aroma of citrus fruits, big grapefruit, very noticable, and hints of pine... Flavors as with most DIPAís IMO do not hold up to the aroma... Creamy but a wee bit thin mouthfeel, odd... Citrus notes in the taste along with a hint of spice... Overall quite good, up there with the best...

UPDATED: JUL 18, 2013 12oz bottle from Samís, Durham. Very pale golden pour, surprisingly so, in fact. Crisp carbonation and a massive, sticky-icky nose that goes all the way past grapefruit and straight to Pine Town. My initial impression was that the mouthfeel was too thin, but man, there is some depth to this one. It recalls Founders Harvest just a bit in its astringency, and itís not quite as robust in the palate as Iíd like. But itís a very enjoyable beer from Founders.

Bottle from Samís Clybourn. Pours a chill hazed yellowy gold with a dissipating head. Nose is pungent with resin and cedar, as well as white pepper and citrus/tropical fruit. Nice. Taste is much the same, a certain saltine cracker note coming through, along with the pepper and citrus. Nice bomby bitterness. Pithy citrus and a nice sturdy malt backbone. Not as good as HopSlam or Dreadnaught, but still pretty nice and more West coast than either of those. Nice.

12 oz bottle. Clear apple juice with a fluffy off-white head; spots of lace. Nose is pink grapefruit, mandarin orange, hard candy and dough. Pine and spruce come out with warming. Rather thick and resiny, sharp but not bubbly. Taste is caramel, lemon zest and grass with a growing intense herbal bitterness. Hints of apple and eucalyptus. A polished hop bomb with mild malts.

Poured from a 12oz bottle and served in a tulip. This beer poured a golden amber with a slight haze and a thin head of beige foam that hung around for a while. Some nice lacing was left around the glass. The aroma consisted of strong resiny hops. Mango, peach, and grapefruit show up in abundance. The flavor was also loaded with hops. Bright notes of citrus, mango, tropical fruit, are followed by just enough toffee/caramel to give some body. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied and had light carbonation. If you love a huge, fresh, juicy hop aroma, this is for you. Well done!

Delicious IIPA. This is the kind of IIPA I adore. All hops without all the sweet malt and alcohol burn. Aroma was strong pine and citrus.Pour was a lovely light gold with a thin white film for a head. I love these truly pale IIPAs. Taste was all hops. Strong pine and citrus with a mouth drying bitter hoppy bite. Hides the alcohol dangerously. Great beer.

Bottle from Belmont Party and draft at the Dilly Deli. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Heavy sour citrus hoppy aroma. Medium to full body with slick texture and flat carbonation. Heavy smooth bittersweet grapefruit flavor with a heavy bittersweet finish of long duration. This is a standout beer and more complex as a draft.
