3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pros: Great appearance. Surprised to see itís a natural ale, with a lot going on in the bottom of the bottle. Has some lemon and pine going on in the nose, but itís not bright, or fresh.
Cons: After 2-3 months in the bottle, it just doesnít do much for me. Itís almost not ratable. Doesnít have the freshness that I desire. Simplistic malt profile. Hops lacks vibrancy and pungency.

From notes, consumed on 5/22/13. Bottle poured into a Belgian snifter. Pours a honey brown with a finger of off-white head. Aromas of big grapefruit, floral hops, tangerine, mango, peach, caramel. Tasting notes of big grapefruit, floral hops, pine/resin, light booze. Juicy slightly warm finish with some hop bitterness. Medium body with a semi-dry finish.

I am no beer expert, I either like a brew or I dont, this brew serves its purpose for me, a decent tasting imperial that has a nice ABV number and gives me a nice smooth finish to the end of my day. I hate to drink the last one, but must move on to the next

Pen & Paper Log (Nov 2012)
Aroma - Piney hops and citrus are the most obvious notes, with some floral notes.
Appearance - body is an orange-amber color, liquid somewhat hazy, with a 1" white head.
Taste - big hops at work here, but complimented with strong supporting malt. there is also some fruity notes present - grapefruit/peach.
Palate - body is medium, the texture oily, carbonation subtle, the finish long and strong on the hoppy bitter index.
Iíve yet to come across a Founderís beer that isnít really good. This is just another example.

One of my favorite DIPAs. Great nose, great DIPA hoppy taste. A little more bitter than most Imperials, which is a good thing! Well done Founders!

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A - Pours a golden pale color with a small white head. Nice head and lacing.
S - Green dank hops, grapefruit peel, pine sap, sweet ripened apricots, rich malts, almost get an eggy mineral aroma.
T - Bittering hops surround a sweet fruity center, ruby red grapefruit, lemon, and stone fruit. Then heavy amounts of pine bleed in with a bitter green bite. The pale malts have a honey sweetness and do their best to balance the bitter green hops. Finishes dry with a lemon herbal bitterness.
M - Medium weight but semi viscous at times. Low and slow carbonation. Dry finish.
Here is a dank, bitter, circle of hop flavor, kind of DIPA. This has the flavor and bitterness to match. Pale malts hold up so itís not a thin bitter mess like some IPAís Iíve had. This leans the toward green pine and grapefruit hops. Alcohol comes out a bit but works with the finish. This is the best Founders Iíve had to date.
