UPDATED: NOV 5, 2013 I’m a sucker for this one. Sunburst-orange and copper; fat, chunky lace and a voluptuous head. Amazingly aromatic, tropical and citrusy. Pineapple, grapefruit, mango, tangerine with floral, leafy, and piney hops. Light pepper spice from the hops on the palate, along with strong pineapple and nectarine flavors. Mild grassy and onion-like notes in the finish. Barely any malt - this beer is not balanced, but in the most beautiful way. Sticky, wet finish, high carbonation. Great beer, so drinkable for the ABV.

Pour is golden with a white head. Aroma of pine with a slight citrus note. Also some sweet malt/alcohol on the nose. Pine up front, sweet malt and alcohol in the middle and pine that ramps up on the back end. Very well balanced. Does not taste like its as high of alcohol as it is. Medium full body.

"well done double ipa - very bitter and lively dank hoppy citrus aroma. bitterness on the back end of the palate. surprisingly well balanced while still being very hop centric and lively. if this were fresh outta the brewer, it would be among the best me thinks. thanks John!"

A solid piney, citrus imperial ipa that sits on the hoppy side of balanced. Golden yellow and very aromatic. Some malt and booze sweetness. Very tasty and all about the hops. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Color: slightly cloudy copper color. Almost no head. Aroma: very piney with a touch of citrus. Taste: a fairly I pronounced acidic and/or carbonation mouth feel. The pine is also quite prominent and stays on the long finish. The alcohol lends it some welcome sweetness. A quite good beer, though definitely a hop bomb. If you prefer some balance, this may not be your cup of tea...

Bottle. Pours hazy yellow with a small white creamy to frothy mostly lasting head that leaves good lacing, Aroma is faint but is of pine, resin and hay. Light to medium body, oily texture, light to medium bitter, average carbonation with very fine bubbles and a long bitter finish. No hint of the 9.4 abv and all with a solid malt backbone.

The aroma is hops, citrus and spruce. Pours a golden yellow with slight copper, mostly diminishing off white head with excellent lacing. The taste is medium bitter. The body is medium, the texture creamy, the carbonation lively and the finish bitter. Very good.

ALLOVATE (2419) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - SEP 9, 2014
Tasting from Nov’ 2013.
At just on cool and into a snifter. Pastel orange and hazy with very fine carbonation that rises sluggishly to atmosphere. Thick, tight and tidy snow-white crown holds on for the length but leaves minimal lace, being off-set instead by oily legs. Initial hint of straw and damp haybales gives way to candied strawberry, rose water musk, apricot and peach, perfume heat and a little burnt plastic atop your usual herbaceous and piney US hop notes. Chunky, big bodied and viscous in mouthfeel. Predominant, tangy orange marmalade up front, shifting gear to herbaceous and resinous hops in the back with an assertive, rough and lasting bitterness. Lots of juicy stone-fruit powers in with no mention of that 9.4% ABV. Floral, rose musk and grapefruit in the linger. Malty, biscuity base hints at granola but ties in well. This is lipsmacking great stuff, despite the small frays of the nose. Keeps good from go to whoa. A very pleasing IIPA! (12fl.Oz, BB 24/02/14, Cellarbrations Carlisle)
