Lively hops and strong alcohol kick. This one give Hopslam a run for its money. Founders has another winner!

This is definitely a nice subtle high octane Double IPA. I did not detect high octane level purportedly associated with this brew. Nor did it live up to the hop-noxious description. That is not meant to deter from the overall quality and drinkability, if I can borrow such a self deprecating label. This bier was smooth and delicious. The alcohol level was indeed subtle, perhaps because the hops were a bit understated in relation to the delicious malt character. This beer is a Cadilac, not a Corvette. It is excellent, big and luxurious. If you compare it to some of the W Coast brews, like Green Flash, it will come up a little less hoppy and Flashy. But it is bigger, has as much under the hood, and gets you there in comfort and without sparing quality. I like it. I like it a lot!

Draft at Rattle n Hum, NYC. Slight haze gold, white cream. Grapefruit resin. Balanced sweet thick hops. Malt back but citrus resin in body. Firm. Great.

2/16/15 (Bottle) - Strong blonde pour with minimal head. Aroma was distinctly orange and lemon, two favorite flavors. Beer somewhat bitter, tastes strong going down and I enjoyed the taste. Texture is lighter and smooth, carbonation minimal. Overall, it’s a very good beer and I look forward to future bottles and other Founders offerings.

Bottle. Pours a hazy reddish gold with a half-inch white head. Aromas of apricot, citrus, pine and grassy notes. Flavors are subtle butterscotch, stone fruit, biscuit, grassy notes and muted bitter citrus with some herbal tones. Creamy mouthfeel. High ABV, but it’s not readily detectable. Exceptional!

This lunker will certainly give you some trouble at 9.4%. The aroma is piney and faintly floral--nice! Taste is big with tons of hop juiciness that is nearly swaddled by the malt cloak. Appearance is nice and hazy with a fleeting head but nice lacing. Finish is massive and resolute. Overall, it superb and flavorsome.

Bottle - slightly hazy gold colour with slim white head. Aroma has juicy fruity hops and some pine. Nice balance of malts and citrus hops, medium bodied, softly carbonated, nice and long bitter finish. Very good.

Bottle. Golden beer with a strong head and a fizzy looking body. The aroma is quite gingery with a dulled hoppedness, and the flavour is very well hopped with plenty of maltiness and dryness. Overall a nice very well hopped IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355ml bottle from Beers of Europe (£3.79):
This one was a very strong and incredibly bitter double IPA, one that I was expecting to be as such but I still ended up surprised by the strength of it, it was absolutely loaded with hops. A very in your face beer and one that had to be sipped away at slowly rather than quaffed, perhaps the only thing that prevented me from rating it that little bit higher.
