UPDATED: MAY 27, 2013 Not as overwhelmingly bitter as, say, Sierra Nevada’s Hoptimum. Founders goes for a more balanced approach. I mean, it’s still pretty bitter and strong, but it’s very drinkable for the style. Some quenching citrus notes in the finish. A little malty sweetness, which adds a mellowing effect. Pretty damn good if you ask me.

355ml bottle. Orange amber colour with a white foam head. Nose of mellow mango & orange, hoppy. Taste is malt caramel balanced with citrusy grapefruit, pine and earthy spicy bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry warm boozy bitter finish. Very drinkable DIPA.

Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. Golden coloured pouring with a thin white head. It has very rich pineapple and passion fruit flavours, citrus and malty notes followed by a smooth zesty, bitter hoppy and pine finish. Excellent!

Tap. Cask. Hazy Amber pour with a big white head. Citrus, pine, hip, grapefruit. It has a double IPA sweetness but is still crisp. Bitterness balances out the sweetness very well. Really nice

33cl bottle served in a Prearis glass. Dark, hazy orange with a fluffy white head. Very strong aroma of grassy hops with a less prominent maltiness which I prefer. Perfectly executed mouthfeel with it clearly showing its purpose whilst still complementing the crisp and refreshing nature of the brew. Overall I would say this is my favourite DIPA to date and another plus for the consistently excellent products from Founders.

Clear golden pour with a sudsy head. Hop aromas are alive and well in this one. Citrus and grassy notes abound. Flavors add to the hop character, which is dominant. Some fruity sweetness lingering that takes some of the bite away from the heavy amount of hops. Solid drinker, and one that will creep up on you.

Hazed, amber/gold appearance with a medium size head and decent lacing. Subtle aroma; coaxed out some tropical fruit that resembled mango. Hoppy flavor leaned more resinous than citrus and was well balanced by the modestly sweet, malty backbone. Lush aftertaste where everything blends so well and helps distinguish this DIPA from so many hop bombs. Nicely carbonated, full bodied mouthfeel with a lingering finish.

Very similar to Dogfish 120 in smell and flavor. Very cloudy and dark in color, strong hints of malt in the smell. Tastes of caramel and malt in the front, with a good back palate.
