4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 brewblackhole (1585) - Muskego, USA - FEB 4, 2009
Sharp citrusy aroma,so sharp its almost like someone squirts a grapefruit around your nose, its really an incredible quality,so distinctly citrusy you cant believe this comes from hops, there is a whisper of caramel malt at first sniff, but that got quickly beaten down by those nostril buckeling waves of juicy ,tart acidic citrus, why can’t they come up with a perfume that smells like this. I’m so blessed to be a card carrying hophead, with this glass of brew in my hand. And now the taste, ,an amazing lightness to it, can’t remember ever tasting such a full body of hops,in a less then then full body beer. Balance,we don’t need no stinking balance, nothing but savory hop flavor and tongue twisting hop bitterness smothering the taste buds, that flavor and bitterness lingers as a heavenly coating on the palate. Alcohol is mildly evident but uninteresting in lieu of the Garden of Eden hopping you experience. The only malting I detected was a slight sweet grain taste right after the swallow. All in all,a masterpiece of an Imperial IPA,if you consider an IPA a very hop emphasized pale ale,and therfore an Imperial IPA should be an uber hop emphasized ale, balance be damned, cast the balance advocates to the pale ales and English IPA’s. I just can’t see how this could be improved. There is no way this spectacular hop fireworks display can hold strong in the bottles as it ages , but for this brief period in these lousy struggling times ,we have some manna from heaven to sustain us

Aroma of citrusy hops, tangerine, orange marmalade, pineapple. Medium bodied, malty up front, sticky mouthfeel, long powerful finish with a burst of fresh pink grapefruit, white pepper, overcooked vegetables. Very complex.

It doesn't get much better than this for imperial IPA's. I think it is a very good blend of flavors and great for any summer or spring night

Purchased in GA at Ale Yeah!
golden, resin color, little head, mild carbonation, sweet smell (not that much), suprising woodsy taste, full mouthfeel, lingers a bit bitter, love the trippy cartoon label.

Love this brew, definitely my DIPA go to whenever I can find it. Super clean and very tasty. A little malty but nowhere near other IIPA’s. Very citrus forward, grapefruit, lemon and some spices in the mix.

Great imperial ipa. citrusy flavor and malty sweetness hides the booze in this quite well. I’ve even aged this one before and even though the aroma fades it gets even smoother and goes down even easier. I really enjoy the dt.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Advocate_Ames (24) - - MAY 29, 2012
A descent beverage. It wont blow your mind but it will combat your taste buds. Maybe there is why Im not getting married to this brew. It takes you for a ride in flavor but the intensity dies down & you are left with an after taste that stays with you. In the end its the after taste that doesnt impress or entice me to fall in love here. On a good note its such a smooth beer.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 high_on_hops (214) - Missouri, USA - MAY 28, 2012
Pours a slightly cloudy gold with a white head and lacing. The aroma is a great combination of grapefruit and pine. The flavor is soft up front for a DIPA, with a strong grapefruit and citrus middle, where the high alcohol content is apparent, and a long spicy and bitter aftertaste.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Finhead (705) - OFallon, Illinois, USA - MAY 27, 2012
A hazy, peach color with a white head and good lacing. The aroma is a nice mixture of citrus, grass, and a touch of spiciness. This full body has a thick texture that ends a little sticky. It has a bittersweet opening flavor that grows in bitterness well beyond the swallow. The alcohol is virtually unnoticeable, which could be a dangerous thing.

Dry citrus finish. Almost a lemon peel flavor. Lively mouth feel. Grapefruit notes and a very slight malt note. No head, no lace. Bright yellow color.
