Not sure where RB gets off calling this a Strong Ale. It’s obviously a brown ale brewed with coffee and artificial hazelnut flavoring. There is no beer like quality to this. It tastes like the $2 Iced Hazelniut Coffee I purchase at Dunkin Donuts except it costs $15. Drain pour

Pours brown with no head. Aroma of hazelnuts, chocolate, coffee and caramel. Taste follows, really nice hides alcohol well.

UPDATED: DEC 18, 2012 Bottle shared by bobbysolo. Pours a deep brown with a small off white head, Aroma is really rich coffee and hazelnut notes, touches of nuttiness, maple, and a bit of a dessert cake glaziness. Flavor follows suit with some very rich and sweet hazelnut and notes of roasty coffee. Both are aggressive throughout with some caramel and toffee notes that are background. Finishes a bit bitter and biting from the coffee. Medium to medium full body and soft carbonation

Bottle poured a light brown in color with a thin coating of off white foam that fell right away. Aroma has hazelnut coffee right away, sweetness, big nuttiness, and some brown malt at the back. Really centered on the hazelnut coffee . Mouth feel is on the lighter side for such a high alcohol beer and there is low carbonation poking around. Flavor does have some bitterness, flavored hazelnut coffee, brown malt, sweetness without the texture, light roast, and a tang on the finish. For me the thing founders nails with coffee in there beer is the texture and this one has fantastic flavors but the mouth feel is missing for me however i still like it.

On tap: pour is slightly.murky dark.Brown/amber with a modest fine bubbled off white head in this glass. The nose is the highlight for me here, I think. Hazelnut coffee for sure, I would have said heavy on the nutty/coffee notes without reading hazelnut on the description. Some brown sugar and caramel comes through as well. The flavor profile has an initial coffee nutty note, with some more caramel, toffee, Brown sugar elements. It pours a little.thin, and.the mouthfeel has that feeling as well. There is a light bitterness near the finish as well. Nice brew, for sure, but not a mind.blower

Not every beer is for every person and not every beer is for every situation. Luckily, this beer was for me and I drank it in the right situation. Split a 750 ml bottle with a friend served in goblets after dinner. That’s right, we used a beer as an after-dinner drink and boy was it a winner. It pours a deep brown with a thin (quarter inch or so) caramel-colored head that does not linger and leaves only moderate lacing.
The first thing that hits you is the nose. Beautiful coffee and mocha . My friend and I spent a good couple of minutes just taking in the bouquet. One of the best I ever have experienced from a beer.
The taste. A very nice marriage of hops and hazelnut coffee, giving a mellow bitterness that ends with a touch of sweetness. Very up-front with the coffee, fading into a mocha-sweet finish. Again, this is not for people who like heavy malt or heavy hop beers, but is wonderful for its intended purpose (a nice, sipping beer, not a beer you would drink 6-7 of in a night). It did have a bit of a thin body, which may be from adding the coffee, but that really did nothing to take away from my enjoyment.
Overall, a great experience. There was no disappointment in this beer.

Bottle shared by Aledude at his birthday. Clear brown color with a thin beige head. Malty and caramelly nose with plenty of hazelnut and coffee. Malty and hazelnutty flavor with caramel, vanilla and coffee accents. Pretty solid, but the brown ale aspect almost clashed with the hazelnut coffee. I prefer the Frangelic Stout.

Growler from the piggly wiggly, lol seriously, anyways it pours a deep ruby red, clear, off white head and nice lacing. Aroma is Pretty full and complex with coffee and chocolate hazelnut very roasty. Flavor is just like aroma would suggest very full body and mouthfeel it’s strong hazelnut coffee with good dark malt roastiness. gets sweet towards the end of the glass and has some alcohol warmth. Overall i like this beer and what they have done with chocolate and coffee with balance.

Bomber bottle compliments of my neighbor Bob. Immediate and overpowering aromas of a coffee shop carry through to the bean like taste throughout. This is my new favorite for browns.
