3.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a sultry brown with a thinner khaki head that when swished produces a finger or so of larger bubbles. Nose is as advertised: plenty of hazelnut coffee notes, bringing back memories of an old downtown coffee shop that I used to sip on hazelnut coffees at in high school. The taste is somewhat sweet, quite bitter, and neither seems to compliment the other. Palate is slick, rather thin, with a lingering metallic nuttiness. I was really hoping for a richer body, maybe more sweetness. The aromatics are great, but as i continued to drink they started to grate on me. I was disappointed. My suggestion is to find plenty of people to share this one with, as in small doses itís not so bad and kind of clever.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Looked like a 25.4 oz Bottle. A tasty brown if you like Nutella. Hazelnut, sweet chocolate, nutella scent. Dark brown, almost black, pour with a light tan fluffy head to ring. Medium bodied, creamy texture. Hazelnut up front, coffee, dark chocolate, slight bitter burn finish, overall tastes like Nutella. Kind of singular in make up.

HUGE thanks to the man, the legend, the one and only PEPSIEDCAN. Mad props, yo. This beer pours a clear brown with a 2 finger slightly off white head. A quick whiff of the beer and immediately you are whisked away to Tibsí coffee shop... Sweet artificial hazelnut coffee, coffee and more coffee. I am starting to get afraid that this beer is going to be super cloying before even tasting it... As I take my first sip, I breath a slight sigh of relief finding comfort in the fact that it really isnít cloying at all. Yes, itís sweet. Yes, it lacks a certain depth. Itís not very roasty, despite all itís coffee undertones. No alcohol is apparent at all, which could be dangerous. All in all, this beer is a winner. Like.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle. Brown / red color, little off-white head, leaving good dots of lace. Lighter body for the ABV, and easy to drink for 9%. Definitely lacks any kind of bite or alcohol taste. Nice (artificial) hazelnut coffee taste. Itís not too sweet, like the hazelnut is in Rogueís brown. Sort of sweet, but a little bitter in there, too, and a bit of noticeable hop. Light chocolate. Had the bomber all to myself while playing Settlers of Catan with friends, and it held my interest all the way through. Nice to sip on during the long-term. My friend Greg tasted a bit, he had this to say: "I mean, itís good beer. Itís enjoyable, but all I really taste is that roast. And maybe a little bitter after it. I do like the hazelnut, though. Itís refreshing"

Bottle from Craft Ale House. Pours hazy medium brown with off-khaki head. Nose is heavy coffee, hazelnut, hops, malt. Tasted complex, dense on the palate, with big coffee, hazelnut, malt, and hops. This beer was very good.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle on the RBSG 2012 bus. Pours hazy mahogany with a small tan head. I didnít know that this was made with hazelnut coffee but the first thing I noticed was how hazelnutty it was. Combine that with fresh-tasting coffee notes, caramel and sweet peanut butter, and youíve got a pretty solid brown ale. Could be cloying if you wanted to down the whole bottle, but in tasting size it works very well.

Aroma has a strong earthy coffee note with a nice note of hazelnut with a bit of dark sweet grains. Flavor has a strong coffee note up front with a nice note of hazelnut and a hint of sweet dark grains.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750 ml bottle from Berkots (New Lenox, IL). Big props to my mother of all people on the pickup of these. Shared with the missus. Pours a rich brownish ruby hue, not opaque, actually just a touch of haze with rich deep midnight ruby glowing edges and bottom. Cakey bigger tan dulled head is pretty big, stays as a larger layer and laces well. Very nice look to it, especially as the light strikes it and preaches deeper brown and ruby glow. Aromas are hazelnut coffee, roasty and sweet, with cocoa, vanilla, and biscuity and toffee malt slant. You can tell itís a flavored coffee, rich and roasty with an assertive hazelnut flavor, touches of Frangelico, coffee, and creamy sweetness. Toast, gentle roast that grows, largely influenced by the coffee. Initial is medium bodied, perhaps a bit heavier, with creamy sweet malt body. Coffee, creamer, hazelnuts, milk chocolate slanted. Biscuits, caramel, and toffee. An assertive stronger flavored front end moves into a sweeter touch more roasty middle/backend. Cocoa, caramel, coffee creamer, milk chocolate. Hazelnuts, toffee, and a touch of stickiness as we get into the backend, with lingering hazelnut, sweet coffee, and chocolate. Biscuits, toffee. A bit stickier and sweeter into the back with a touch of dryness, toast, and mellow coffee roast into the finish. Overall, a powerful inviting nose (albeit sweet) and assertive front that dies into a sweeter and more sticky backend. Pretty pour that keeps going. A bit unbalanced, coffee feels a bit sweet. Solid beer with some weaknesses, itís points come mainly from the assertiveness of the flavors, making it at least unique, and itís certainly a good flavor. But itís sweet overall. Which gets a bit distracting and once you get past that main flavor, it gets a bit simple. Solid American Strong that certainly is one way to get those flavors out to the larger area (though I enjoyed their Brewpubís Frangelic Porter considerably more).
