4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Color is rich dark brown and has a decent head. Nose is sweet hazelnut, vanilla and chocolate. Body is smooth and creamy. Taste definitely evokes the apparent namesake, Frangelico. Rich, full bodied, sweet nuttiness. A solid roasty brown. Hazelnut and chocolate dominate with coffee, caramel and vanilla not far behind. Too sweet and rich for some tastes. Even though I often shy away from malty sweetness, I found this to be exactly what I was hoping for, nutty and rich.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A clear brown ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, a sweet nut extract, hazelnuts, coffee oily, OK. In mouth, a sweet fruity malt with butterscotch, hazelnuts, oily mouth feel, mocha chocolate, not bad. Bottle from Boutip.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Solid brown with some ruby highlights, small off-white head. Aroma is hazelnut, coffee, chocolate. Medium bodied, reasonable balance, smooth finish. Taste is coffee, hazelnut, chocolate, malt. Not bad but the taste doesn't quite deliver what the nose promises.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Mostly opaque, dark brown body with rusty copper overtones & mild ruby highlights. Appears to be under carbonated, as not much of a head appears at all, just a small, off-white collar. Aroma smells like hazelnut flavored ice coffee... Hints of cream, sugary lactose, & faint cocoa play under the strong hazelnut aroma. The taste is just the same - more of that iced coffee vibe loaded with hazelnut cream & lightly milky sweet undertones. Lingering cocoa powder finish with a coating hazelnut & bittersweet coffee bean essence. Body is a little thin & could use more carbonation, but it fits the flavors pretty well. I wasn’t nearly as disappointed as many others seemed to be... But I also wasn’t expecting so much. Plus, I love hazelnut, so I may be biased. Not worth the typical bomber price, but enjoyable for coffee/hazelnut lovers, no doubt.

750 ml bottle poured into a teku glass. Pours a hazed brown with a beige head of foam. The aroma has sweet nutty notes with weak coffee coming through behind them. The taste has chocolate and hazelnut influence with some vanilla attributes as well. Bigger bodied with a low carbonation.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Rich deep amber color out of the bottle with a foamy beige head. The nose is only hazelnut. The flavor is dominated by the hazelnut too, with a natural nutty flavor. This is a sweet, milky beer. It is not very well balanced, but if you like hazelnuts, this beer is great.

Part of a sampler at Founders.
Appearance: A dark brown color. Holy hell! NOT expected. Nice head and great lacing. Very nice looking brown ale.
Smell: A bit sweet. Slight roast? Quite a big amount of nuttiness. Reeks of quality before even taking a sip.
Taste: Best brown ale I’ve had. I’ve generally not been all that impressed with the style in the past, but this worked for me. Quite well, in fact. A nice sweetness with the nutty character in this beer really impressed me. Not your boring, ordinary brown ale -- this one’s crafted about as well as a brown ale could be, as far as I’m concerned. For that reason, my overall rating is higher than any other rating (aside from appearance).
