Bomber bottle compliments of my neighbor Bob. Immediate and overpowering aromas of a coffee shop carry through to the bean like taste throughout. This is my new favorite for browns.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2012 The aroma is strong: immediate coffee and hazelnut on the nose. A lot of malt, a little boozy. It’s a beautiful color, dark brown with a creamy-colored head. The taste is wonderful, starts off with the malty and hazelnut sweetness, then falls back to the coffee bitterness. Very tasty. The mouthfeel is the best, it isn’t thick but it’s smooth and creamy. Overall, I hope they keep bottling this because it’s quite a treat.

Coffee and hazelnut says it all and wow! Only complaint about this beer is little to no head. Can only do one of these in one sitting! All-around great beer!!!

Appearance seems light for a brown ale. I took some points off for that. Otherwise...wow! Never would have thought I?d enjoy a brown ale this much. This one?s a real keeper. Fantastic aroma, the flavors compliment each other perfectly, and everything is defined and clear. Definitely in my top 50 beers. I sure hope founders decides to make this backstage series annual.

From the 8/2012 3R6P tasting +++ Sampled from a 750 ml brown bottle this beer poured an orange-brown color with a medium sized creamy orange-beige head that left decent lacing. The aroma was sweet toffee, nut and coffee. The flavor was sweet hazelnut, toffee, coffee, vanilla cream and touches of smoke and wood. Very long finish of hazelnut, toffee, vanilla cream and coffee. Thick and creamy body. Amazing.

750ml sought done by Anndiesel. Quite attractive unfiltered thick brown color, massive steady off-white head. Pronounced coffee aroma, Big coffee tastes, coupled by some nutty caramel tones. Mellow, subdued carbonation really accentuates the creamy richness. This is really a perfect Imperial Brown Ale, with a great coffee balance. A masterpiece beer, incredible.

Pours a murky red-brown color with minimal off-white head. Amazing aroma of sweetened hazelnut coffee, vanilla cream wafer cookies, and brown sugar. Flavor starts with sweet hazelnut syrup, vanilla, and brown sugar and gives way to crisp, acidic coffee and toasted/mild roasted malt. Acidic finish with some sticky sweetness. Ultra smooth with no alcohol coming through. A little sweet, but a great dessert-like beer.

Pours a dark brown with minimal white head. aroma resembles a cup of hazelnut coffee. taste is identical to a cup of black hazelnut coffee. taste in my head resembled more of a porter or stout, left me wanting more body.
