12 oz pour on tap at the brewpub (Grand Rapids, MI). Pours a rich rolling nitro pour, firm brownish hue shows some murk and chestnut glow on the edges. Frothy nitro head sits atop and sticks around well, very nice. Aromas are rich, offering hazelnut and cocoa, creamy malty sweetness shows vanilla, caramel. Rich flavors on the nostrils, touches of fruit and good Frangelico feel. Initial is medium bodied, creamy and full on the mouth with tons of cocoa, hot chocolate. Hazelnut, creamy fluffy caramel, toffee, and touches of toast. More cocoa, sweetness, and pronounced hazelnut/vanilla appeal. Middle remains creamy and fluffy, a touch of marshmellow, more hot chocolate feel. Rich and envelopes the palate, finish is cocoa and dry, touch of roast and toast. Lots of lingering desserty coffee but not overly sweet, envelopes the palate. Wow. Really nice.

founders frangelic porter. 6.5. nitrogen. black with substantial creamy head. massive hazelnut and roasted coffee. slightly bitter and dark chocolate. amazing hazelnut and coffee with huge cream and milkiness all around. awesome

Nitro at the brewery. Wow, this is a damn good beer. Smell is robust with notes of hazelnut, but mostly that of a standard porter. Taste is amazing, not sure how else to put it. If you get a chance, have one!

On nitrogen. Great head retention. Smells like a straight cup of coffee. Sweetness to it as well. Nice blend of coffee and sweet caramel. Very smooth and rich

On nitro pour at Founders. Served in a pint glass. Pours black with a fantastic tan head and a good bit of lacing all the way down. The nose has strong coffee and faint hazelnut with a bit of roast. Flavor doesn’t quite hit the same additive levels but still quite good. Amazing body and super smooth. Great coffee. Superb. Boom.

Had 1/3/12 on tap. Smooth, rich, and chocolatey, goes down warm. It was sweet, but not too sweet. So delicious. Due to being on nitro, the carbonation was minimal and made the beer really smooth going down. I had a dream about this beer after I had it, that’s how good it was.

On Nitro at Founders. Rich milk chocolate nose, with a touch of dark fruit and roast. Taste is a bit sweet and moderately bitter, very light roast, lots of chocolate and nougat.

UPDATED: DEC 13, 2011 On tap at Founders. The caulk board, and website, clearly said this was a porter and not a stout. Beautiful head. May have been nitro? Chocolate was dominate in both aroma and taste. Solid body.
