4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap @ Founders: Nitro-tap produces a beer that looks like traditional Guinness on draught... Beautiful, bold, fully opaque black body with a silky, long-lasting, ecru & leathery head that gives me foam mustaches with each sip. Lovely aroma of fresh hazelnut coffee beans, ground & milled oats, faint roast, & a milk chocolate-y sweetness that balances the beans perfectly. Taste is similar, tasting like an iced hazelnut coffee, black, but with the addition of some creamy chocolate that adds a nice little touch of sweetness. Roasted barley & notes of toasted oat flakes in the peripherals, but this is a hazelnut coffee bomb. Very nice mouth feel, likely thanks to the nitro, smooth & creamy. I was one of the few who liked Frangelic Mountain Brown (since I love hazelnut) but this take it to a whole other level, itís even better as a creamy nitro stout.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark mahogany with a foamy, long-lasting white head. This is very similar to the Founderís Oatmeal Stout, but itís sweeter and has a hazelnut coffee aroma and flavor in addition to the roasted malts. Goes down smooth. Excellent.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Nitro pour. Aroma is hazelnut, coffee, roasted malt, surprisingly robust for a 4.2% brew. Appearance is what you expect from a low abv stout, dark dark dark brown, great nitro head of light brown. Taste is nice, light but again surprisingly robust. Hazelnut is prevalent, the other characteristics fall back but itís light. Mouthfeel is great, the nitro helps and the flavor hangs. Overall, this is quite impressive for a low abv beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at the brewery. Pours a rich dark blackish color with a tan head. Aroma of hazelnuts, coffee, vanilla, cocoa. Flavor is unbelievable. The hazelnut coffee combined with the delicious cocoa and roastiness of the stout achieves a near flavor perfection. Almost unexpected. Medium bodied, pillowy body, nice carbonation. Overall, one of the best tasting beer experiences in my life.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle courtesy of "hannont". Colour...hazy, dark brown with a thick head. Nose...chiles (like, roasted chiles), buttered movie theatre popcorn, coffee and burnt filberts. Palate...very bitter, semi dry and loaded with filberts! That chile and popcorn thing comes back and so does the coffee. Man this stuff is bitter!

4.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at the brewery -- December 29, 2010.
Pours a hazy dark brown color with a really hefty nitro-derived head with some really amazing retention time and quite a bit of lacing as it goes down. On the initial whiff of this I was already upset that it was on nitro and I wouldnít be able to grab a growler. Strong notes of coffee and hazelnut. Wow. A bit of chocolate and roast there as well. Canít get enough of the coffee and hazelnut, which headed straight into the taste, though that was a bit more roasty and similar to the base beer without the sweetness of the nose. The mouthfeel was really nice and smooth. Drinkability is through the roof. Hands down the best oatmeal stout Iíve ever had.
