BBB63 (3843), La Porte, Indiana, USA Apr 22, 2008 On tap at brewpub, Black Party 2008: Pour jet black with a fading frothy tan head and okay lace upon the glass, some oily legs as well. The aroma has notes of hazelnut, orange zest, chocolate, vanilla, espresso, charred malt, oatmeal, and some herbal hop. A very welcoming and relaxing nose indeed!

The taste is a wonderful mix of sweet hazelnut and malt balanced by some coffee and hop bitterness. The finish does display some herbal notes and even a hint of smoke but what you get initially from this beer is what stays till the end. The mouth feel is very smooth and very drinkable, I almost finished the pint before writing my notes. This is not for everyone but if you can dig a nutty stout then you must try this... I did twice! Rogueone (410), I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio, USA Apr 21, 2008 On nitro @ Founder’s. If you only sort of like hazelnut, you probably will not appreciate this beer. Very fragrant nose of roasted hazelnut and faint coffee and maybe a hint of vanilla. Tastes much like it smells, without tasting artificial. I really enjoyed it, but then again, I really like hazelnuts. Chucks66 (84), Beachwood, Ohio, USA Feb 5, 2007 From growler...imagine it wouldve been nice and creamy on nitro, still was out of the growler but had more potential, huge aroma of malt vanilla and coffee, flavor of roast, chocolate malt, nut flavors. Would love to try on Nitro. Hollywoodt (170), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Feb 17, 2006 Nitro draft at Founders. This one looked a lot like their Oatmeal Stout, that is fantastic. However, it had a lot more in the aroma and flavor departments. I loved the hazelnut flavor to this one. Get in my belly! Tmoney99 (3740), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Apr 9, 2006 Draft at Founders. Dark brown pour with an average creamy off-white head that lasted and produced good lacing. Soild toasted malt and hazelnut aroma. Medium body with a creamy texture. Solid sweet toasted malt and hazelnut flavor with a moderate finish.
