Black Coffee on the nose, black with small foamy head. Dark Chocolate nice sweet maltyness, toffee, very creamy, just enough kick. Great stuff, much more drinkable that typical founders Stouts.

Draft sample - nitro. Poured black color with an average creamy light brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Good roasted coffee and chocolate malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth dry texture with flat carbonation. Moderate toasted dark chocolate flavor with a medium dark chocolate finish of average duration. Solid drinkable stout.

On tap at Founders, my 100th Founders rating. Opaque dark brown body, medium tight creamy tan head. Nose of coffee beans and dark roast, bitter. Woody, roasty body with light acidity; bitter and tannic but not astringent. Full-flavored. Solid.

Pint on tap at the brewpub (Grand Rapids, MI). Pours a nice murky opaque blackish pour, a thick brownish lighter head sits atop, laces well, sticks around well. Aromas are roasted barley and cocoa, some coffee, toffee, and toast. Some mellow vanilla, rich creamy nitro. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied with roast, toast, some vanilla, cocoa, and toffee. Some rich vanilla, some roasty bread, biscuits, a light nitro appeal on the pallate. Lots of cocoa and molasses. Vanilla, creamy and roasty elements clash. Finish throws some good lingering roast, earthy nuts, toffee, and more roast. Some cocoa, toffee. Really rich yet still lighter on body up front. I’d almost say it’s a little heavy. A nice Nitro Stout with a lot of flavor, creamy body yet still a little girth to it

Strykzone (3133) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - SEP 17, 2011
Draft at the brewpub. Black so that no red or light gets through. A nice dark tan head does have a bit of red. Nothing but big chocolate in the aroma. The flavor is exactly the same with lors of sweet chocolate. There arevsome hops that tend to provide attitude and bitterness. This is thick and rich and feeds the sweet tooth but that is not at all cloying. Good.

tap at founders...pours jet black, hefty body, medium-sized brown head. big and milky, dry and slighty bitter...bold stout with nuts and chocolate everywhere. has some nice coffee and toasted grain as well. finishes with bold, grassy hops. delicious!
