3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a hazy orangish yellow with a half-inch thick white head which lingers and leaves spotty lace. Aromas of citrus fruits and pine. Flavor follows the nose with citrus hops and piney bitterness.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Founders Harvest Ale has a fairly thin, slightly off-white head, a clear, burnished gold appearance, and low level lacing. The aroma is of citrus hop oil, and the flavor is of sweet, white bread, citrus hops, not-too-heavy bitterness, and biscuit. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Founders Harvest Ale finishes dry and drinkable. RJT

On tap at Capitol Beer & Tap Room. Pours golden with a huge white head and a citrus aroma. There is a full-bodied pale malt flavor with a great hop profile that is nicely balanced against the solid malt base. Refreshing and tasty.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Growler from Joe Canal’s in Iselin, NJ. Brassy gold color topped by a moderate frothy beige head that yields nice lace. Fresh citrus hop nose is complex and big. First sip is bittersweet with a toasty caramel maltiness that morphs to the wonderfully complex hoppy hoe down. Juicy, fruity and citrusy with notes of grass and pine. Deliciously and arduously balanced to make this a real sensory pleasure for the tastebuds. A must have.

Really good. Almost clear. Citrus lemon that anything. Held its own in the Super IPA/APA flight with John (Schlafly TIPA, Founders Harvest Ale, Pliny the Elder, Zombie Dust, Alpha King, Sierra Nevada Celebration ale)

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
It seems like there are more falltime fresh hop ales than ever before, and trust me, no one is happier about that than I am. Founders has always made a good hop bomb, and Harvest Ale doesn’t break the trend. It offers the usual notes of bitter orange, lemon, and grapefruit zest, but there are also spicy (nearly peppery) and grassy notes. The bread-like malt influences and mildly sweet hop oils are subdued, but they’re there. If you like your IPA’s earthy, fairly aggressive, and of course fresh, you need this in your life.
