COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This liquid dream pours a hazy golden orange straw color with a large puffy white two-finger head. First sip of this beer rewards with a super juicy hop presence bursting with fresh orange and lemon citrus then continues to introduce toasted malt undertones.

UPDATED: AUG 1, 2013
11/28/2007: The aroma of Founderís Harvest Ale contains bright citrusy hops and slight amount of pine and grapefruit. I found toffee malt with a mild wet citrus/pine hops in the flavor. The bitterness hangs around on the palate for awhile. This beer has a medium body, a golden marigold-yellow color, a small off-white head, some suspended sediment that causes it to appear hazy, and a smooth texture. Itís good, but just not aggressive enough as a Harvest Ale.

12 fl. oz. bottle (Alc by Vol. 7%). Rating #336 for this beer. Score: 7/4/7/3/15 = 3.6

2010 Vintage

11/18/2010: Founderís Harvest Ale... Aroma: Vibrant citrus aroma with lots of orange peel, grapefruit, and pine; hints of honey malt. Appearance: Hazy, orange-gold color; frothy off-white head; moderate carbonation. Flavor: Just a little bit of toffee maltiness followed by a generous bitterness; tons of leafy grapefruit and pine hoppiness; soapy and slighty floral finish. Palate: Medium to medium-full body; oily texture. Overall: Lots of tasty hops and bitterness; moderate alcohol, high price.

Pours a hazy straw color. Decent size foamy off-white head that clears quick but leaves decent lace on the galss. Smells of sharp, dry aggressive lemon and citrus hops. Not much else on the nose. Flavor starts with sharp bitterness, especially for 70 ibus. Following the nose, spicy sharp lemon zest notes dominate the flavor, with some other citrus notes in the background. Nothing much in the way of any malt action, balance, no booze in the flavor. Interesting, but very one-dimensional on the flavor. Palate is super dry and crisp, with only a bit of that bitterness lingering on the finish. Very interesting and unique IPA, that really only suffers from the lack of depth in the hop profile.

Multiple samples from recent trades. Pours a hazy amber with a generous white head. Smells of citrus and earthy. Tastes mildly bitter with some grass, perfume, wildflowers, citrus. Finishes tarte and dry.

This is probably the case of the right beer at the wrong time. Since this is a Wet Hop ale, I am assuming it was released in September or October, so this may be a little old. The hops seem a little muted, musty and somewhat restrained. Surprisingly strong alcohol burn as well. Some good crisp bitterness is there, but overall it seems to be lacking something. I would imagine that this is pretty epic fresh from the tap.

Bottled. A hazy dark golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is swet with notes of malt, hops, and fresh cut grass. The flavor is sweet with notes fomalt and grass, leading to a dry and bitter finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

This is one solid IPA. Pour is a little light in color but looks great otherwise...clear orange copper with a thick white head. Aroma is lovely hops: grapefruit, lemon, floral, and fruity. Flavor is light bitter. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Has a slight metallic aftertaste but overall, very enjoyable.

The first thing on the nose from the bottle for me was grapefruit. As it sat a while a little bread and caramel. From a dark gold pour with a large fluffy white head and lace. A bit of lemony like flavor on the very front. A decent bitter finish. Medium bodied with good soft carbonation. A good beer but I was looking for a bit more maltiness and it also had a bit of a metallic after taste. Another one to add to the re-rate list.

Medium gold body with an off white head. The aroma was grapefruit and grass with some sweet cake donuts. The taste was light grapefruit with some almonds. There also a little bit of bitter wood in the finish. Nice.

12oz bottle. Hazy orange-yellow color. Big, lively head. Bitter astringent hop aroma, serious grapefruit. Bitter and full of flavor, but whereas most hop-bombs leave you with a syrupy aftertaste, this one is incredibly light and refreshing. Fresh Hop is one of my favorite styles, and this is an interesting variation, not as in your face and earthy as most. Excellent IPA.
