A fine companion to end a meal or relax in front of the hearth with, this robust ale will cellar well for years. Brewed with ten varieties of malted barley this stout is extremely smooth, complex and rich in body. We recommend serving at cellar temperature. Sit back and enjoy its richness and complexity, you’re about to drink the ultimate winter warmer.

Bottle. Oily black pour, thick short tan head. Chocolate, raisins, plum, date, roasty dark malts, sweet toffee, ground coffee beens, and nice bitter vinous hops. A very nice, complex beer. I highly enjoyed it.

2008 vintage. I would describe this as an about averagge imperial stout. Good but not one of my favorites. At first whiff aroma is alcohal, but as it heats up, I can taste choclate, raisin and other dank fruit. Appearance is engine oil with a small tan head but nice lacing. Taste chocolate, raisin and roast. Palate is very smooth and a little lighter than one would expect for an impy. Pretty good brew.

From a trade this came from The Wheelman in Maine. From a 12 oz bottle this poured used motor oil black with a robust brown head that left glue like lacing rings at it dissipated. Nose is,chocolate, ripe fruit, and rich dark malts. Rich and thick body and a very creamy mouthfeel. The flavor is Taste is chocolate, vanilla, figs, coffee, and a hint of piney hops. Long bitter and alcoholic finish. This is excellent and good to the last drop.

12oz bottle poured into snifter. Pours a very very dark black with almost no head. Smells of rich roasty malts. Mouth feel is very thick and viscous with minimal carbonation. This beers coats the glass like motor oil. Flavor is rich, roasty and sweet. Finishes a lil dry but not bad at all. Very good Imperial Stout.

Another fine offering by Founders. At 10%+ ABV, this imperial porter is smooth as can be. Pours dark and thick with a head that is a rich brown. You could drink this beer warm if you so pleased, or you could chill to a very cold temperature thanks to its high ABV.

12 oz bottle.Pours a jet black with a thin brown head that quickly dissipates.Nose is molasses, chocolate, and toasty malt.Taste is ultra smooth with flavors of chocolate, creamy and rich malts and bitter coffee.I think I detect some bitter pine hops lost in the darkness somewhere. This is an unreal stout. Not too far behind the KBS.

[bottle--thanks, fonefan!] Potent aroma of pumpernickel, grain, black malt bubblegum, and sweet raisins and currants. Opaque and thick oily black appearance under a thin, brown, lacy cover. Sweet cereal grain flavour with a nice roasted malt bitterness to balance the sweet malt. Plenty of coffee and bittersweet chocolate along with a little vanilla and raisin. Full body, moderate carbonation, bittersweet finish.
