A fine companion to end a meal or relax in front of the hearth with, this robust ale will cellar well for years. Brewed with ten varieties of malted barley this stout is extremely smooth, complex and rich in body. We recommend serving at cellar temperature. Sit back and enjoy its richness and complexity, you’re about to drink the ultimate winter warmer.

Bottle, 0.355l. Pours pitch black color with thin totally diminishing light brown head and no lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, alcohol and candy sugar. Taste starts sweet rich and smooth malty with strong coffee note, follows by dried fruits’ acidity and whiskey note, mouthfeel is warming, while finish is moderate bitter. Full body, syrupy texture and soft carbonation in palate. Warm surprise for warm spring afternoon...

Bottle from archer road beer stop, sheffield. Black with a tan head. Aroma of liquorice and treacle. Taste is rich and bitter with treacly sweetness. Thick as they come, like crude oil, lovely. Good good double good.

I find this one hard to rate. I’ve had it a few times and my opinion fluctuates wildly. Tonight I love it. Balanced flavours of vanilla, chocolate, roasted malts, slight bitterness, cocoa, coffee. Quality beer.

12oz bottle purchased at the beer cabin in plattsburgh. Aroma has some mineral and roast. Light anise. Opaque black body with a medium brown head. Starts with some burnt, ashed, malt flavor. Strong anise. Quite bitter. Way too much anise and bitterness in this to be enjoyable.

Opaque, tall, brown, persisting head, no lace. Subtle coffee nose. Very full body, smooth texture, fine mousse, intensely flavored, nicely hot, lingering and flavorful aftertaste. Bittersweet, touch of acidity, great balance. Very complex layered flavors, tar, cola, dried fruit, Guiness fruit cake, Too good for words! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pour pretty darn black, with a solid frothy dark khaki head. Aroma of roasted malts, roasted coffee, sweet licorice, faint bitter chocolate notes, plenty of bitter hops, some bread notes, some nutty notes as well. Taste is ever so slightly sweet up front, but is dominantly bitter. Not in a roasted malty way, but in a hoppy way. Some slight sourness somewhere in the way back. Full bodied, with a silky smooth texture, and a semi flat carbonation. Not quite what I expected - this has a whole lot more hops to it.

Thick black body, the darkest and most impressive I?ve seen in a long time. Super malty aroma both with fresh roast and more creamy chocolate milk. Pine and resin hops too, but it?s all about the thick body. Wow, what a mouthfeel, so impressive. A lot of ingredients, care and work in this recipe, that?s for sure. And it shows! Fuck barrel aging. This is beer! (Bottle from Saveur Bière)

UPDATED: MAY 30, 2015 Keg. Black with a medium sized diminishing light brown head. Lots of coffee in the nose, fudge, cocoa. The flavour is like liquid fudge. Chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, vanilla, espresso, dates, figs. Creamy, thick and soft on the palate, full body, sweet but well balanced. Long roasted finish. Good stuff.

Had one on bottle a couple of weeks later and it was equally good. Great beer.
