4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at Funky Buddha Lounge in Boca Raton, FL. 12oz pour. Snifter. Pours a jet black with the darkest mocha head I’ve ever seen. Solid lacing. Aroma of toasted malts, coffee, oats, caramel. The taste is amazing with a wonderful toasty malt goodness, solid coffee and mocha flavors, hint of dark chocolate, and some hops to go along. Very thick texture and a bold, coffee finish. Smooth drinking with a very full body. Another awesome beer from Founders.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours thick and black with almost no head (but I did pour it slowly). The aroma is very rich coffee, chocolate and caramel. The flavour is deliciously rich bitter dark chocolate which gives it a remarkable palate.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours out black as night with a three finger nice brown head with incredible retention with nice lacing. Smell is of dark fruits, burnt malt, and a little black liquorice, Taste is just like the nose and doesn’t let up. Mouthfeel is really thick. Although it’s not my favorite stout it is one of the best. Hard to beat.

Fint mörkt skum. Svartvsom olja. Hög viskositet. Läder rök rostad malt inte överhumlad. Mjuk och rund polerad ton utan motstånd i halsen. Angenäm. Fint kolsyrad. Drar fram nysningar vilket är ett bra betyg..

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
What a beer! Pours a thick black motor oil consistency with a dark burnt red small head. Not much carbonation. Strong smoky chocolate taste and plenty hoppy. Very good representation of the style.

A- Soy sauce, woody, licorice, chocolate syrup, mocha, subtle vanilla, roasty, burnt caramel, smoke, complex.
A- Black color, black liquid, brown head.
T- Soy sauce, dark chocolate, mocha, roasty, slightly bitter, subtle woodiness, slight char, very complex.
P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, robust finish.
O- Wowza. Kept my bottle around not on purpose but just because I kept wanting to save it a little longer and a littler bit longer after that. Finally decided I needed to open it and with over 1.5 years of age on it there is no doubt this ages better than most supermodels. So much going on in the aroma I could hardly list everything I was picking up. Soy sauce and char definitely took a stronghold on the aroma and palate but it was quite robust and complex in every way. Still I prefer the Breakfast Stout, and I am drooling at the thought of opening my KBS. Founders continues to dominate the RIS world.
