A fine companion to end a meal or relax in front of the hearth with, this robust ale will cellar well for years. Brewed with ten varieties of malted barley this stout is extremely smooth, complex and rich in body. We recommend serving at cellar temperature. Sit back and enjoy its richness and complexity, youíre about to drink the ultimate winter warmer.

Thanks to Momar42 for the bottle! 12 oz bottle poured into a Duvel tulip. A: Pours an ultra-viscous looking pitch black color. Itís an amazingly heavy looking monster. The head is a one-finger dark tan color with fantastic texturing. Retention isnít perfect, but the level of lacing is downright beautiful. It just looks amazing. S: Wow, this is one of the most chocolaty-smelling imperial stouts Iíve ever encountered. There are also notes of hazelnut, cream, vanilla, roasted malts, coffee, and slight dark fruit. No frills, but fuckiní fantastic regardless. T: It seems like Founders took the basic essence of a standard-issue RIS and distilled it into rapturous glory. I first notice flavors of cream, vanilla, and chocolate; before roasted malts envelop the tastebuds. The umami qualities on the finish are glorious, melding together with anise, tobacco, and pine flavors. It has just enough complexity to keep the palate guessing, while being simple enough that one can easily pick out the differing handful of flavors. Yum. M: You wouldnít expect such a thick, creamy monster to be so drinkable - but the delicately dry finish and brilliant alcohol concealment means this will be all gone before you know what to do. Itís not so dry as to render its aftertaste gutted, however; some syrupy linger remains without creating overpowering sweetness. One of the best RIS palate feels Iíve ever encountered outside of Nogne Oís RIS. O: Founders didnít reinvent the wheel, they just showed every other brewer how it should be made in the first place. A brilliant reminder why this is my favorite style out there, and a not-so-brilliant reminder that this was the only bottle I had. :(

Pours dark and looks thick when pouring. Head has almost purple hue but dissipates quickly. Chocolate and molasses aroma. Thick mouth feel with slight booze. Molasses, nuts, and dark chocolate. You should judge Imperial Stouts off this beer.

Bottle at home. Pours Engine oil Black with a handsome Tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt and licorice. Beautiful balance of sweetness and charred bitterness. Itís so big and so full-flavoured. It has exactly the characteristics that make this my favourite style. A dream beer.

Pours a very dark brown with a beige/light brown head that settles into a medium rim that leaves few lacing. Nose is of powdered cocoa, roasted malt. Taste is moderately sweet, roasty with some charred and almost ash-y flavors. Rich chocolate (milk) flavors, too. No alcohol in the taste. Body is medium-full, carbonation moderate. Sticky. Some warming alcohol. A really well crafted imperial stout, yum!

Tiny brownish head. Opaque dark mahogany colour. Aroma is very roasted malt. dark cocoa, coffee and dried dark fruits (prune). Very complex flavour, very roasted bitter, acid, black coffee, bitter finish and long acid bitter aftertaste. Creamy palate, very dry mouthful. No burnt nor charcoal taste but it is mostly a dry roasted beer.

Oily, nearly black with thick tan head. Rich aroma of coffee, chocolate and licorice, dark fruit, some vanilla and hints of smoke. Thick and sticky mouthfeel. Flavour has cocoa and coffee, dark sugar, sour cherries and roasted bitterness. Stickyness and ABV well balanced by the lasting bitterness. Rock solid impy, sooo drinkable. And none of that fuken chili shit...

This imp Stout poured a very deep black colour with a dark brown head. Very creamy looking with minimal bubbles and little lacing. Literally looks like used motor oil. Scents include gummy bears, coffee cocoa and caramel. First swig was smooth and very creamy with flavours of molasses, brown sugar, caramel and coffee. Finish is sweet and smooth with excellent roasted caramel lingering.
