Aroma is very toasty with chocolate, there is a very slight alcohol aroma. The appearance is very dark, with no head (poured out of bottle into pint glass), it is very hearty with legs that crawl back down the glass. The malt is very complex, with cocoa, caramel, coffee, it is both toasty and roasty, the palate is long and fantastic. This is a great beer, plus with the 10.5% it is warming as well.

Poured at cellar temp with a small, long lasting brown head and some lace. Aroma is cocoa, coffee, anise, leather, old furniture. Flavor’s like nose, with bitter dominating sweet and tang. Finishes with cocoa. Very smooth palate. Too easy drinking for its strength.

A: Thick one finger head, pitch black! N: Coffee, chocolate, cherry, plum T: Chocolate, coffee, plum, dark fruit O: Strong bitter sweet taste and quite boozy. Warming and pretty nice!

Bottiglia, colore perfettamente nero con una schiuma marrone fine e mediamente persistente, aroma complesso con cioccolato, caffè e toffe, in bocca si ripresenta come al naso, tuttavia non ha un amaro molto prepotente come mi sarei aspettato il che facilita la bevuta. Corpo strutturato e molto oleoso, carbonazione bassa. Birra favolosa.

Tap @ Basement Beer Bar in Aalborg. Aroma of coffee, alcohol, roasted malt. Black colour, tan head, none lasting. Alcohol sweet, moderate sweetness, malt bitterness, light bitterness. Full body, creamy texture, avg. carbonation, sweet roasted malt finish.

Pours pitch black with small and quickly fading brown foam, very thick beer. On the nose I find different kinds of sugars (burnt, deep molass, candy). Distinct and style typical soy aroma. Choclate and coffee (which I struggle to find still). On the tongue there is a balanced taste of sweetness, bitterness and umami (soy). The fact that this has been stored for a while may affect the taste.

Donker bijna zwart van kleur, mooie caramelkleurige schuimkraag. Ik proef zoet, bitter waarvan vooral bitter in de nasmaak blijft hangen. Topper !

Pours pitch black color with thin totally diminishing light brown head and no lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, alcohol and candy sugar. Taste starts sweet rich and smooth malty with strong coffee note.

35cl Bottle, thanks douberd! Pitch black colour, brown head. Aroma of pumpernickel, coffee, ash, caramel, roasted malts, some dark fruits. Flavour is deep roasted malts, ashy, dry, chocolate, a lot less sweet than expected, caramel, light fruity, hoppy, firm bitter finish. Full bodied. Very good.

Pours opaque black with stable brown creamy head.
Aroma: alcohol is mild medium noticable (oak whiskey), with vanilla, chocolate, mocha notes.
Flavor: alcohol is evident, but not in a disturbing way. Namely it is very well balanced with malts (notes of oak, tobacco, vanilla, mocha, hint of chocolate) and hops (esters of dark fruits and pine).
Malt sweetnees is medizm to high, hop bitterness also.
Body is sticky, finish is long lasting.
This imperial stout is proper to drink only fresh, namely it is not proper for cellaring.
I tried both: fresh and matured-and only fresh is really mervellus
