Aroma is very toasty with chocolate, there is a very slight alcohol aroma. The appearance is very dark, with no head (poured out of bottle into pint glass), it is very hearty with legs that crawl back down the glass. The malt is very complex, with cocoa, caramel, coffee, it is both toasty and roasty, the palate is long and fantastic. This is a great beer, plus with the 10.5% it is warming as well.

From a 355ml bottle on 23/7/2014. Pours pretty much black with a small brown head. Has quite a big aroma featuring chocolate, caramel, coffee, roasted malt, molasses, licorice, vanilla and a hint of dark fruit. The flavour is huge and extremely complex, featuring sweet milk chocolate, caramel, cherries, soy and red grapes. While definitely on the sweet side, it also features a massive roasty, dark chocolate bitterness which balances things out nicely. There’s a definite touch of booze in it, but it’s still quite easy to drink for something so big. The palate borders on syrupy and the carbonation is moderate. A very good impy.

Light roasted malt aroma. The flavor of black malt, coffee, chocolate and soy. Bitterness in the aftertaste fills the mouth a long time. Not the powerhouse that I thought but really good nonetheless. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Bottled:
Pours jet black with a large, brown head.
Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, toffee, brown sugar, smoke and coffee.
Rich and thick mouthfeel. The taste is roasted malt, chocolate, brown sugar and ash leading to a warming alcohol finish.
A good example of the style.

From 345 ml bottle. Pours a solid black (no highlights) with a soapy brown head that collapses to a cap. Aromas of black coffee, cocoa powder, roasted malt, anise, stewed fruit and raisins. Taste is soft fruit at fruit at first before a big coffee and roast bitterness that dominates the palate. Rich dark chocolate and coffee bean at the end before a fruity finish. Full, rich palate with a lingering sweet finish. Outstanding.

Bottle. Black beer with a strong but soon disappearing head. The aroma is strongly bitter, roasted, and vinous. The flavour has plenty of coffee roasted bitterness and maltiness. Overall a nice beer with plenty of roastedness and coffee bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Cool Wine. Pitch black with a mean brown head. The aroma makes itself known from a distance--molasses, roast malt, liquorice, chocolate. In the flavour, a sweet palate is dominated by molasses and roast malt, a cocoa-like bitter chocolate, there is also an impression of cinnamon. A thick, full body, bitter finish. Showstopper.

Bottle from the hive. Pitch black, little fizzy dark tan head. Bitter coffee grounds on the nose, fruity undertones. Thickish mouth, roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. Nicely bitter, good finish. What a beer for the price!

En väldigt mörk öl med kraftigt skum. Härlig doft av kaffe och choklad. Bra balans mellan sötma och beska. Det jag kan invända mot är att det är lite för mycket smak. Men definitivt en öl som jag gärna dricker igen.
