5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
UPDATED: JAN 6, 2016 A: Huge chocolate, coffee, and alcohol sweetness. Big tobacco note.A: Hands down the best looking beer I?ve ever seen. Pitch black with an epic brown and creamy head.T: Massive! As with the smell, huge chocolate note. A great coffee note as well that comes with some solid bitterness. Alcohol compliments the finish. Nice tobacco note.P: Carbonation is prime with a nice smooth mouthfeel. Goes down easy peasy. Overall this is a near perfect brew. Huge flavors complement each other well and are not overpowered by each other. A must try.Gahhh!!!!! I so want this to be my next perfect score but every time I come back and smell there is something off! This is the beer I absolutely look forward too. -From the 2015 version.
When I found myself thinking of stockpiling this now that itís a two month beer I knew.... Itís a perfect beer. Pour it into a glass... It looks like a freaking chocolate muffin! Perfect beer.

Pours virtually black with a fine brown head. Nose is typical of the style with plenty of coffee, dark chocolate, and caramel.flavor is roughly the same with a good balance roasted barley and hops on the back side. alcohol is very well hidden. finish is a little thinner than expected and bittersweet.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Dark brown head, dark as night, so dark color, rich flavor coffee, chocolate, vanilla, wheat/barley, incredible taste! Founders I have to say does it right. If you are a stout guy, Founders has to be the best brew makers for you! This is rich, thick, bitter but sweet, the burn is incredible! One of the best.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours black with a thick tan head. Roasted malt, soy sauce, caramel, toast, licorice and chocolate aroma. Roasted malt, licorice, raisin, fig, chocolate, soy sauce, toast, coffee, vanilla and grain flavors. Full body and moderate carbonation. Chocolate, licorice and roasted malt finish. Very good but a little too much licorice comes through.

Ten malted barley varieties and over ten percent ABV were used to create Founders Imperial Stout. Yeah, this is about the purest representation of the American-style Imperial Stout as you could hope for. Bitter, absolutely black, viscous, strong, and smooth. Bottled just after the start of December, my serving of Founders Imperial Stout was plenty aggressive yet surprisingly approachable. Flavors of bold black coffee, bitter chocolate, booze, and some smoke. Full-bodied. It takes a while to get through this Stout, but itís time well spent.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a thick opaque brown with a dark brown head.....aroma of coffee, chocolate, raisin......taste is smooth and boozy sliding into bitter dark chocolate, vanilla following with coffee grounds. Noticeably low carb and in this case itís a bit plus. Excellent!

It was 6 months over best before date and it was perfect! Thick velvety black with minimal dark brown head. Malty with aromas of milk chocolate, cocoa beans and roasted caramel malts. Full bodied and creamy. Tastes of raw licorice, chocolate and cocoa. Light ashy ending with smooth bitterness in the aftertaste. Perfectly balanced. Itís like chocolate milk for grownups! But much better!
