Pours a really thick black tar or activated sludge with mocca cream head, sticks nicely on the glass walls. So thick that it feels like a concentrate compared to normal water beers. Intense smell with smoky coffee. Has aromas of coffee, dark chocolate and smoke. A bit of sweetness and strong bitterness. Alcohol hiding somewhere in the back, making me feel good. Something reminds me of the wood heated sauna by the lake at my home place in Finland. Maybe similar birch smoke memories. Full bodied and complex experience, enjoyable and impressing. This really catches the essence of an well produced beer with no compromise. This isn’t my favourite compared to other imperial stouts I’ve tasted, maybe a bit too smoky to my taste. Anyway an awesome beer.

33cl bottle served in a snifter. Pitch black and the darkest brown head I have seen. Very thick but not overly so. Chocolate coated raisins explode with the initial sweetness and then a quite profound bitterness appears from the blackness. A close to perfect imperial stout and is only marked down as I find this can be quite varied. Some are world-class others merely better than average. Never been disappointed just some have been better than others.

Love Founders, it’s like they can do no wrong. One of the prettiest stouts I’ve ever pour- black with deep cocoa creamed head and uber lacing. Very smooth and rich. Some roasted malts, dark berry, mild coffee, some chocolate. Dig it.

330ml; .It appears fucken grate in the snifter ... A large beige head rests nicely ,with slug like lacing ...evil black lookin’ brew ; I was excited to pick this up today . I am a Founders fan on sporadic samples . This nose is vivid chocolate , roast malt , coffee , fudge , burnt notes ,toffee . this beer is complex , rich , and coherent ; i love the way it opens richly , explores into bitter roasted accents and ends smooth .. notes of bitter dark chocolate , chewy fudge ,. fucken good.

Cocoa, leather, and oak in the aroma. Taste is initially sweet milk chocolate, then vanilla and a smokey flavor emerges in the middle palate. The finish is bitter and dry, creating the desire for another sip. It has an oily feel on the palate and warms the chest due to its high abv. I wish I would have had this in January by the fire.

355 ml bottle, from the Norwegian importer. ABV is 10.5%, 90 IBU. Pitch black colour, impressive brown head. Roasty aroma, roast malts, strong coffee, dark chocolate, liquorice, tar, wood and a hint of smoke. Rich mouthfeel. Medium sweet and rich flavour, roast malts, liquorice and strong coffee galore, bitter hops in the finish. High "Wow!" factor.

355ml bottle. Black in the glass with a beautiful, creamy, fluffy tan head, almost brown. Complex and great aroma, roasted malt, espresso, toffee, chocolate, deli platter and booze. The flavor is deep, first come mocha and roasted coffee beans then sweetness and hops, a long beautiful aftertaste more sweet than bitter, although both are there in perfect balance. Incredibly good!
