Poured from Dec2012 bottle into snifter a jet black with I nice two finger mocha head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate. Mouthfeel is a medium carbonation and fairly viscous. Taste of burnt malts, coffee, oaky. Nice finish that warms the soul on this frigid Chicago evening.

Pretty much perfection. Chocolate, coffee and a hint of vanilla on the nose. Overwhelming chocolate, coffee and nuttiness when drinking. Holy crap, I think Iím in heaven.

Bottle. Pours a super thick and near-black color with a moderate brown head. Nose has some roasting and wood notes in there, almost like itís been aged for a while. Taste has some great roasting with a bit of chocolate coming through. Really good beer...

The alcohol is hidden so well its tastes like a standard stout, and if it was a regular stout it would be the best one on the market. It has the cigar bite of old rasputin and the dark chocolate coffee tongue coating of the breakfast stout. If you like subtle balanced imperial stouts, this might be the best one out there.

'12 vintage. Pours a pitch black, with a minimal dark mocha head that leaves nice lace on the glass. The smell is heavy in roast with nice hints of coffee, chocolate and licorice. The taste is quite complex, with the smells coming through but adding a nice roasted malt, and the licorice weighs in a little heavier. The mouth feel is perfect. Just thick enough to know it's an incredible stout, and it lingers beautifully. I love this beer! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Like used motor oil, black thick, little bit of medium brown foam. Heavy roasted malts, chocolate, light smokiness, oatmeal and earthiness. Taste is moderately sweet with a nice bitter balance. The body is heavier with a syrupy feel. Excellent imperial stout , heavy rich malts without the black licorice or strong raisin/prune flavors.

12 oz bottle. Pours an inky black, with a good-sized light brown head that persists. Good lacing. Nose is chocolate and dark malt. Taste is sublime-rich and complex, with many layers of flavor. An excellent exemplar of the style.

UPDATED: FEB 25, 2014 Great! Smells of chocolate and hint of fruit, both dark. Black pour with almost no mocha head. Tastes (delicious) of dark fruit and bitter, dark chocolate. Great!
