COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A fine companion to end a meal or relax in front of the hearth with, this robust ale will cellar well for years. Brewed with ten varieties of malted barley this stout is extremely smooth, complex and rich in body. We recommend serving at cellar temperature. Sit back and enjoy its richness and complexity, youíre about to drink the ultimate winter warmer.

For me, all I get from the nose is Chocolate, a bit of Coffee and a bit of booze. Itís a great looking beer, pours thick and forms a fairly thick and dark head, a hint of red in it, but mostly brown. The beer itself is black as sin, I turned on the light on my phone and held if on the other side of the beer and couldnít see it... at all. Taste is delicious, at least to me. Fairly sweet and a little bit bitter. Body is extremely thick and full, almost chewy ^_^. Nice smooth carbonation. As for the finish, it definitely lingers on your tongue. I really wish this was available here in Texas, I think I would drink it all the time. Iíve gotten to try KBS once, but my palette was already long blown by that point. Really need to get a CBS. Either way. Iím glad I have two more ^_^.

Pours thick and dark brown. Smell is heavy with chocolate. Tastes of chocolate with subtle coffee notes. This is an amazing brew from a great brewery. Founders has yet to disappoint. Fantastic experience!

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2013 Wow, love this beer. Pitch black pour with a small brown head. Big lacing on the glass. Big big chocolate aroma along with coffee, roasted malt, and cream. Amazing scent. Taste is pretty amazing too. A nice sweet chocolate taste hits first which turns into a roasted malt taste with just a touch of bitterness. Very small alcohol burn. More flavors come out as it warms. Start tasting some more hops even. Just a great imperial stout. I have 6 more that I will cellar for a bit. Re-rate 2/22/13 - Just did a 2011 and 2012 bottle side by side. Also had this a couple other times. This beer is amazing. The hops tamed in the 2011 so it became more chocolaty and ashy. As both versions warm you get some tobacco and light soy sauce. Mouthfeel is oily and thick, perfect. I love both versions and cannot get enough of this beer. For the price, I donít think you can get a better imperial stout except for maybe KBS.

12 oz motor oil black pour with a wonderful light brownish head. Burnt malts and coffee dominate the nose. Taste is full of coffee and chocolate. Palate is long and thick and perfect. Wow. This thing is ridiculous. Im trying to sip it and take it slow but I cant. With a very well hidden 10.5% I might be in trouble soon. This is the best imperial stout Ive had. So smooth, so rich, so perfect.

The beer pours an opaque black with a very small brown head, and the aroma is of toasted malts, dough, and basement aromas. Once sipped, it is quite bitter but still hearty and slightly sweet. The heaviness of this beer coats the tongue nicely, and there is a lasting bitter finish that leaves you wanting more.
