A fine companion to end a meal or relax in front of the hearth with, this robust ale will cellar well for years. Brewed with ten varieties of malted barley this stout is extremely smooth, complex and rich in body. We recommend serving at cellar temperature. Sit back and enjoy its richness and complexity, you’re about to drink the ultimate winter warmer.

What a surprise to see in my spreadsheet that after enjoying this beer for so long, I have never taken the time to rate it. Well, Founders is a favorite brewery of mine and has many impressive products. This certainly is one. So, I snagged a bottle and enjoyed. It pours pitch black with a foamy but small brown head. The aroma holds notes of bakers chocolate, roasted espresso, prunes, cherries, anise, smoke, and a hint of alcohol. Thick, robust, syrupy body that I love from a stout. The flavor was deep and intense with all the olfactory delights coming over in the gustatory experience. Excellent drink.

A- Soy sauce, woody, licorice, chocolate syrup, mocha, subtle vanilla, roasty, burnt caramel, smoke, complex. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Soy sauce, dark chocolate, mocha, roasty, slightly bitter, subtle woodiness, slight char, very complex. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, robust finish. O- Wowza. Kept my bottle around not on purpose but just because I kept wanting to save it a little longer and a littler bit longer after that. Finally decided I needed to open it and with over 1.5 years of age on it there is no doubt this ages better than most supermodels. So much going on in the aroma I could hardly list everything I was picking up. Soy sauce and char definitely took a stronghold on the aroma and palate but it was quite robust and complex in every way. Still I prefer the Breakfast Stout, and I am drooling at the thought of opening my KBS. Founders continues to dominate the RIS world.

355ml bottle. Pours black with a beautiful creamy brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, dark fruits, berries, ground coffee, soy sauce. Taste is very rich: roastiness, coffee, chocolate, some vanilla, light smoke, plums, berries, some booze. Smooth oily mouthfeel, full body, light carbonation. Excellent.

Ottima Imperial Stout.

This is how an imperial stout should be... Thick, black, heavy... Coffee, burnt sugar, treacle, black chocolate. Warming and boozy. No fancy gimmicks, just a top class imperial Stout.

Negro opaco con espuma beis. Aromas de cacao, frutos negros, licor. Cuerpo medio-alto, textura sedosa. Inicio dulce de fruta negra, melaza que acaba en un amargor achocolatado, licoroso y tostado intenso que equilibra bien.

Bottle, 0.355l. Pours pitch black color with thin totally diminishing light brown head and no lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, alcohol and candy sugar. Taste starts sweet rich and smooth malty with strong coffee note, follows by dried fruits’ acidity and whiskey note, mouthfeel is warming, while finish is moderate bitter. Full body, syrupy texture and soft carbonation in palate. Warm surprise for warm spring afternoon...

Bottle from archer road beer stop, sheffield. Black with a tan head. Aroma of liquorice and treacle. Taste is rich and bitter with treacly sweetness. Thick as they come, like crude oil, lovely. Good good double good.

I find this one hard to rate. I’ve had it a few times and my opinion fluctuates wildly. Tonight I love it. Balanced flavours of vanilla, chocolate, roasted malts, slight bitterness, cocoa, coffee. Quality beer.
