A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

Bottle marked 2010. Pours thick dark brown. Mostly flat. I loved the aroma. Vanilla, cream, cherries, wood. Not much coffee, though. A little more coffee in the taste, but still subdued. Itís a rich, roasty, dark chocolate sort of flavor. A little peppery burn in the back of the mouth. Great. Would love to try fresher.

KBS was fantastic and lived up to the hype. I was only allowed 1 bottle when I purchased it and I am glad I was lucky enough to get that. The coffee is strong and the bourbon seeps in on every sip. I did what it said and let it breathe for 30 minutes or so after opening, which I recommend. For stout lovers, it is a must try.

A perfect beer. Amazing in each and every way.....Iím not sure if Iíve had a better barrel aged offering. Then to find out it was actually aged an additional year in a personal cellar. It was truly out of this world.

Deep black pour with a thick, dark caramel colored head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, molasses, burnt sugar, light smoke, and of course bourbon. Really rich and luxurious. Full bodied, ultra smooth, and hides the alcohol ridiculously well. One of the best!

Tasted from bottle. Black in color with a dark brown head. Incredible aroma of chocolate, coffee, caramel, oak, molasses. Taste is a mixture of dark chocolate and coffee with slight smokey notes. Very smooth and hides the high ABV incredibly well. Full bodied with a sticky heavy mouthfeel at first giving way to a dry feeling. Taste really lingers on palate. This and Bells Expedition are the 2 best stouts I've had. Very very well done. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz bottle, 2014 vintage, received via trade and poured into a snifter at home. Jet black appearance with a lacy brown head. Aroma of oak, vanilla, caramel, chocolate, light coffee, roasted malts, bourbon, toffee and wood. Similar flavor, everything comes together nicely. Full body, smooth and creamy with a sweet finish. Wow, what a great sipper and an incredible beverage overall.

Drove all the way to Grand Rapids to try some. Was able to come home with some bottles. Poured very heavy, giving a small tan head. Dark thick body. No light comes through. Smell is very minimal bourbon with lots of coffee. Some wood smell. Taste is coffee with more bourbon than the smell. Very good. One of the best beers Iíve had. Poured the beer somewhere around 55 degrees.

Tap at Tap House in Rochester, great house! Well another year for this rare unicorn of a beer. Easily the best beer of the year. Fall into imperial bourbon bliss. If you get a chance, you should. Cheers!
