COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

Pours thick black with small but clean and uniform brown head. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee grounds, vanilla, and bourbon. Vanilla and bourbon combine to leave a sweet aroma but coffee is definitely the most prevalent. I love beer and coffee so this is great. Nice blend of sweetness, coffee, and a mild sweet bourbon laced alcohol. Strong and robust; sweet and smooth. Very nice set of flavors and aromas assembled here.

Bottled. Pours thick black. Has a huge caramel smell. The palate has medium to light and has a medium bourbon taste. A hint of coffee taste. Awesome stout

12oz bottle poured a pitch black pour Very good stout. Chocolate, oak, and some coffee. Glad I had it, but not sure it’s worth the price. Many other BBA stouts that are easier to find and are cheaper may be just as good IMO.

Bottle. Pours dark brown, black oil with a small amount of mocha-colored bubbles near the edges. Aroma is rather oaky, some vanilla, some roast, slight chocoalte. Taste is quite a bit of vanilla, roast, some smooth chocolate. Strong, herbal oak in the background. Smooth. Alright, if not really to my liking.

12 oz bottle, poured into a snifter. Dark brown, tight tan head, little lace.
Aroma is coffee, vanilla, oak, bourbon, subtle smoke.
Flavor is coffee, creamy chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, oak, dark fruits.
Finish is long, and filled with oaky dryness, coffee bitterness, and bourbon sweetness. Gets better as it warms, and is never boozy despite the high ABV.

2014 version keg pour into taster glass at Cask and Vine. Aroma of nice burnt sugar/molasses, chocolate, dark fruits. Appearance was thin light brown head, less than a finger width with poor retention, opaque black with minimal lacing. Taste of sweet dark chocolate, dark fruits, and oak and bourbon as perfect complements rather than overshadowing other flavors. Alcohol is hidden well. Palate was full bodied with thick, smooth texture, average carbonation and sweet fruity, boozy flavorful finish. Overall, the aroma and taste are heavenly and aging appears to have done this justice. A true pleasure to drink.

on tap @ Hebron Brew Haus / Hebron KY --- Solid bitter malt aroma. Opaque black color, brown head that stays around, wide bands of lace. Taste is full-bodied dark malt that adds vanilla and coffee on a mild fizzy swallow. Then, on to mild hops and a bit of bourbon in an incredibly long finish in which hops and malt alternate. A terrific bold, malty brew.

Pours a black brown from a bottle. Sooo...I initially poured this right out of a fridge, quite cold, which was the wrong move, boozy and syrupy, no dimension. Let it sit out and warm up over a few hours and just came back to it. Oh man, what a difference, subtle floral and cherry notes in the mouth. That boozy burn became a welcome lingering warmth, and the lackluster sweet aroma added classic bourbon notes (vanilla and dark brown sugar) and coffee. Very good beer.

UPDATED: APR 20, 2016 My second KBS, this one is closer to room temperature and it makes a difference. Vanilla, coffee, whiskey and woody aromas punched me right in the nose. Pretty consistent sip after sip, semi sweet dark chocolate with moderate bitterness add to the mix. Oily and slightly astringent mouth feel for a stout. Great but not exceptional. I’m glad I tried it and would not turn one down but I prefer their breakfast stout and a few other bourbon barrel stouts.

Tap@HBF. Pours black with a nice light-brown head. Aroma: Chocolate. Taste: Medium sweet, pleasant balanced bitterness. Like condensed kinder chocolate. Palate: Full body. Extremely well balanced treat. (15.4.2016)
