COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

Bottle. Medium bourbon barrel flavor in the initial taste. A little sweetness that evolves into a chocolate roasted aftertaste. Excellent overall.

2015 (labeled 11.2%) and 2016 (12.4%) side-by-side and blind until after tasting notes. Pours black, thin, tan head. Aromas for both are chocolate, coffee, bourbon, vanilla, treacle, caramel. First real divergence from year-to-year comes through in the taste. 2015 - very smooth, semisweet chocolate, woody vanilla, big bourbon, espresso, fainter notes of anise, molasses, and toffee. 2016 - still smooth, coffee and bittersweet chocolate and vanilla much more at the forefront, more muted bourbon, oak, molasses, and caramel, some heat at the back of the throat that isn't present in the 2015; it doesn't detract at all, just a noticeable difference. After the initial side-by-side we poured a one-to-one mixture of the 2015 and 2016. They both were great individually, but the mixture was stupendous. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours thick black like motor oil. Aromas are somewhat subtle considering the powerhouse of flavour. Metric tons of chocolate with hints of coffee and bourbon. One of the best Stouts I’ve had.

Imperial stout with strong dark chocolate and coffee flavours. This is smooth as silk and is like a liquid dream. It’s big, powerful and delicious.

From bottle. Very dark, almost black in colour with beige head that fades to lacing all round the glass. Coffee and chocolate aroma. Complex depth of flavour, bourbon taste comes through with coffee, liquorice and chocolate aftertaste. Good body and one to savour. Recommend that you try it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This came to me highly hyped. I’m glad to say it lived up to it. Aromas of dark chocolate, coffee beans, bourbon, and roasty malts. Flavours, all in line with that. The 12.4% abv is very well hidden. Less boozy and hot than Nickelbrook’s Kentucky Bastard (and you know I love that stout). It has a surprisingly silky smooth mouthfeel. This is one highly enjoyable stout.

Low head vanishing fast. Good lacing. Borbon barrel is shining through in the aroma. Briliant mouthfeel, good balance between sweet and bitter. Coffee crawling in as the brew gets warmer. There is no flat/off spot in the palate. Wonderful brew.

Bottle, Beers of Europe. Black with a beige head. Coffee with vanilla oak barrel and chocolate. Meaty soy with peppery alcohol. Oily, roasted with spices. Dark berries. Hints of cola and liquorice. Boozy finish. Metallic notes. Good but a little thin bodied.

Pours black with light beige head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted, ashes and licorice. Flavor is roasted, oat, bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, heavy sweet, light bitter and licorice. Sticky, full, smooth and oily. Well balanced, well crafted. A great example of balanced barrel aging.
