A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

A thick malty stout. The oatmeal, coffee and chocolate all come through very well. The pour is beautiful with a thick brown head that almost looks like the froth of a cappuccino.

Sample from bottle @ KØ15. Pours black, with a creamy mocha head. Aroma is dark roasted malts, with coffee, burned wood, vanilla, dark fruits and lactose. Medium to full body, with soft carbonation. Quite intense and sharp flavour with bitter roasted malts, lots of coffee, spicy liquorice and bourbon, as well as herbs, camphor, and muscovado.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Black body with a tan head. Nice lacing. Rich aroma of cherry, dark chocolate, maple syrup and liquorice. Flavour of oak chips, hazelnut, coffee and vanilla. The barrel aging adds a subtle whisky note - not too overwhelming. Medium body with a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Light fizz. A rich, full flavoured beer that hides the ABV well. It took me a while to finish the full bottle though as the sweet flavours became slightly cloying.

29-MAY-2015, bottle @DØE Ølfestival. Black with lasting Brown head. Bourbon, chocolate, coffee, cocoa powder. Sweet, full body, medium carbanation. Really smooth and fantastic. What makes this one stick out is not that it is bigger just that it is better on all parameters:-)

What an awesome brew, had a bottle yesterday at a local bar. Lots of caramel, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, coffee. Also some chocolate and roasted flavours. Very balanced. Lots of sweetness, medium bitterness. I was in a hurry so I had to chug like 50% of the beer which was too bad.

355ml bottle at home. I thought I’d have to go to America to try this top 50 beer, and then it pops up all across London cheaper than half the imperial stouts on the shelves. Bottled Feb 2015 at 11.2%. Black, decent foamy brown head endures, leaves some sparse light lacing. Aroma is coffee, sandalwood, biscuity coconut. Great aroma. Body is medium, smooth, low carbonation. Taste is woody and dry with chocolate and toasted coconut, just a touch of the 11.2% showing up, salty finish. Very good imperial stout.
