COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

Pours a beautiful brown, almost black with a thin creamy head. I forgot to catch the aroma after first pouring because I was so excited to drink it. Tastes like liquid chocolate with slight hint of coffee. This is not a bad thing. Heavy on the bourbon up front but mellows as it warms. Mouthfeel is about the best I’ve had in a stout, not too thin and not too heavy. I know I’m going all fanboy but this is honestly one of the top three beers I’ve had. It lives up to the hype IMO. P.S. I know what it smells like...perfection.

Bottle, 2015. Black color with beige head. Aroma is bourbon, booze, black chocolate, a bit of green peppers. Taste is thick black chocolate, a bit vanilla, molasses, liquorice. Medium carbonation, creamy mouthfeel. Excellent, complex and balanced. I liked their Imperial Stout better though (but I had that in the winter).

UPDATED: JUL 1, 2016 On tap at søernes ølbar. Pours pitch black with a big foamy tan head. The aroma is bang on chocolate. Really intense. Some roast as well. Perhaps some vanilla like sweetness. There is some roasted malts as well, though not as present as in other stouts. Taste is somewhat roasted bitter, but mainly chocolatey sweet. There is a hint of smoked wood as well. A full-bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Medium carbornation.

UPDATED: JUN 30, 2016 @ Craft Beer Helsinki. Pours black with a little brownish head. Pours The aroma features a strong combination of roasty maltiness, licorice, plum, vanilla and coffee. Taste is light to medium sweet initially, later lightly bitter. Flavours contain similar elements than the aroma; qualities from the aging such as vanilla are strong. The palate is full-bodied, smooth and low in carbonation. Brilliant.

On tap at Craft Beer Helsinki 2016. Pitch black with a large beige head. Fairly intense roasty aroma with chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, dark fruits, spices and hints of alcohol and caramel. More raw than expected, assume it’s fairly young. Expected something rounder and smoother, but by all means - still nice. Sweet, roasty and complex with nice bourbon notes and a surprisingly decent bitterness. Certainly a tasty sipper, but wouldn’t mind trying it more aged next time.

Bottle 0.33l at my place Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Bottle from Zlotta. Thanks a lot man. 31.05.2016. Pour it dark color with thick black head. Aroma chocolate, coffee and just pinch of vanilla. Nothing mind blowing. Taste starts with coffee, bourbon in the middle, vanilla, sweet milky coffee note, sticky feel, full body, soft carbonation, pleasent bourbon and coffee after taste.

UPDATED: JUN 27, 2016 Bottle at home, 2015 ed. Pitch black, firm brown, stable head. Huge bodied chocolate, cacao, coffee and roasted malty toffee and butterscotch come in first, then the bourbon, vanilla and alcoholic heat come in, blending beautifully. Rich coffee dominated, bourbon-y aftertaste. Low to absent carbonation, soft and really creamy mouthfeel. Exceptional beer, but the coffee/chocolate are more present than the bourbon, which stays a bit thin sadly imho.

Svart med fingerhøyt lys brunt skum. Lukter whiskey, vanilje, trevirke, fløte og espresso. Fyldig. Whiskey dominerer også i smak. Salt lakris, vanilje og tørket fruktsødme. Alkohol, kakao og whiskey i avslutningen. Tørr
