COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

Bottle marked 2010. Pours thick dark brown. Mostly flat. I loved the aroma. Vanilla, cream, cherries, wood. Not much coffee, though. A little more coffee in the taste, but still subdued. It’s a rich, roasty, dark chocolate sort of flavor. A little peppery burn in the back of the mouth. Great. Would love to try fresher.

Notas principales a Bourbon, café y choccolate. De color completamente negro, cuerpo redondo, corona de espuma abundante de buena retención. En boca equilibrada, a la vez compleja y llena de sabor. Al paladar es exquisita. Notas intensas a Bourbon, café y chocolate. Algo de madera y frutos secos. A la vez muy fácil de beber y equilibrada en cuanto a los sabores. En resumen excelente cerveza. No cabe duda que la guarda en barrica le viene de maravilla

Bottled 11 Feb 2016, 12.4% ABV. Completely impenetrable black with small tight creamy and persistent mocha head. The chocolate, oak and bourbon are immediately apparent in the aroma, with vanilla and some red wine notes. The taste is rich and decadent - big port wine, dark chocolate, big creaminess, bourbon, oak, vanilla, a little licoriced, dry spicy and earthy hop finish. Surprisingly but not unwelcome, the coffee isn’t really noticeable. Full bodied and creamy. Was sceptical but this does live up to most of the hype and I’m excited what a bit more age will do to my second bottle.

1/3 pint, keg. Pours black with a medium thick brown head subsiding quick but slowing down to leave a nice layer of brown foam. Scent is dense dark roasted cappuccino and light amounts of chocolate as well as maybe tobacco. Taste is dense chocolate and light orange peel, light vanilla, and light caramel. Bubblegum. Little bit of capsaicin. Maybe rosemary. Mouthful is ultra creamy. Ice cream. Finish is a little bit sticky and very smooth with a light bite. Utterly excellent.

Almost dark tan head, that lasted the journey, on a black body. The aroma was a mixture of dark fruit, chocolate, vanilla and hints of smoke. In the taste I noticed rich smooth chocolate, hints of liquorice, coffee, all in balance, full in body but not prominent, very well balanced Imperial Stout. Very wary of all the hype for a long time and have been chasing it for also a very long time, not disappointed and well the worth it, unfortunately I only the got one bottle, as did my customers!

Shared with other people in plastic cups. Medium dark tan head, dark brown color. Strong flavor, coco, coffee, caramel, roasted aroma and taste. Full body, creamy texture.

(35 cl bottle courtesy of Tsekouratos, thanks! Bottled: 02/11/2015) Poured at fridge temperature (meter says 13 degrees celsius at surface) into a Rochefort goblet reveals a pitch black body with one finger of toffee head that subsides fairly quickly leaving film and lace. Aroma has notes of dark fruit, toffee, oak and coconut/vanilla/bourbon. The aroma does not in itself betray the high ABV. In the mouth the brew comes across as softly carbonated, with definite roasted notes on the palate and an assertive alcohol warming finish. The body is full but it’s balanced by the alcohol astringency and a bit of bitterness. The texture is oily. The flavour is sweet, slightly ascerbic and somewhat boozy. Definitely a sipper with a bit of a snakebite.

12.4%ABV. Imperial Stout. Poured out black and oily with a nice thin tan head. 40ºSRM. Nose from afar, you get sweet funk of molasses, closer you get dark chocolate and the smokiness of coffee. Mouthfeel is thick and almost syrupy. Strongly alcoholic and medicinal. Palate has black bread, rye toast spiciness, and bourbon. There is a charcoal, smoky finish with alcoholic heat at the back of the throat. There is also a pleasant full-bodied woody or dried aged wood overtone in the palate that rides the alcohol very nicely. I expected a lot of sweetness and fruit from the way it nosed and poured, but this has all the flavor character of a whisky tasting. Aftertaste of chocolate and some coffee and vanilla. Palate may be a bit harsh for the uninitiated, but should be right up the alley of someone who likes a good rye bourbon. Remember that you won’t be able to taste much of anything else after this one, so make it count. Goes on Favorites List !

Pours black with a large foamy tan head. Fantastic aroma of coffee, bourbon and roasted malts. Taste is delicious. Much like the aroma with some hints of vanilla and a slight booziness. A fantastic beer that is worthy of buying as many as you can get your hands on.
