4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark black body with a coffee/tan colored head. Smells of dark chocolate, coffee, and notes of oats. Tastes extremely rich and of chocolate, coffee, vanilla and oats. A very thick and full mouthfeel.

Imperial stout with strong dark chocolate and coffee flavours. This is smooth as silk and is like a liquid dream. It’s big, powerful and delicious.

4.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
From bottle. Very dark, almost black in colour with beige head that fades to lacing all round the glass. Coffee and chocolate aroma. Complex depth of flavour, bourbon taste comes through with coffee, liquorice and chocolate aftertaste. Good body and one to savour. Recommend that you try it.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
This came to me highly hyped. I’m glad to say it lived up to it. Aromas of dark chocolate, coffee beans, bourbon, and roasty malts. Flavours, all in line with that. The 12.4% abv is very well hidden. Less boozy and hot than Nickelbrook’s Kentucky Bastard (and you know I love that stout). It has a surprisingly silky smooth mouthfeel. This is one highly enjoyable stout.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Low head vanishing fast.
Borbon barrel is shining through in the aroma.
Briliant mouthfeel, good balance between sweet and bitter.
Coffee crawling in as the brew gets warmer.
There is no flat/off spot in the palate.

Bottle, Beers of Europe. Black with a beige head. Coffee with vanilla oak barrel and chocolate. Meaty soy with peppery alcohol. Oily, roasted with spices. Dark berries. Hints of cola and liquorice. Boozy finish. Metallic notes. Good but a little thin bodied.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours black with light beige head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted, ashes and licorice. Flavor is roasted, oat, bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, heavy sweet, light bitter and licorice. Sticky, full, smooth and oily. Well balanced, well crafted. A great example of balanced barrel aging.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Tar black. Aroma has chocolate malt, roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, wood, bourbon. Taste is heaven. Perfectly balanced between the sweet vanilla, bitter roasted malt and the heavy influences from the bourbon barrel. The finish leaves you with a warming and longing sensation that demands that you take another sip. And another. And another... My favorite Imperial Stout.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
2016 bottle in porter glass (12.4% abv). Pours jet black with 1 cm tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma dominated early by choc and coffee with a bit of oak sneaking through. The bourbon comes through on the palate with a bit of smokiness from the oak; remarkably smooth for a beer that’s 1/8th ethanol. The best i-stout I’ve had to date.
