Holy moly. Could this be my new favorite beer? Aroma is a bit of light chocolate and the head dissipated quickly. However, all the action is in the taste. Deep dark coffee with a thick chocolate finish. Ultra smooth velvety mouthfeel (like a milk stout). My mouth feels like I just ate chocolate. Can’t detect the alcohol in this at all. Received via trade.

FROM NOTES: November 29, ’13 on draft into a snifter at the Black Friday event @ Kraftrwork, Philly.
A: Big nose full of roasty malts, subtle vanilla dark chocolate notes, roasted coffee and bourbon (booze).
A: Blackest of night with the tannest of tan heads of about a finger and a half thick. VERY SEXY!
T: Dark chocolate notes initially that give way to some espresso/coffee notes with the bourbon becoming more evident in the finish. Aftertaste has a balance between the bourbon and the coffee flavors with the bourbon dominating more as it warms.
P: Creamy, chewy and silky with a nice low carbonation. Surprisingly very smooth for a beer that is 11.2%!
O: Outstanding beer. WORLD CLASS! Very complex. Coffee, chocolate, and bourbon are the primary flavors, as advertised to be. VERY, VERY RARELY does a beer truly live up to the hype, this is that rare example.

Bottle share from Edgar. Thanks brotha! Pours a jet black with a deep tan thin head in a snifter. Powerful aroma of coffee, vanilla, hint of chocolate, bourbon and roasted malts. The taste was amazing with deep roasted malts, dark chocolate, vanilla, light coffee and dark fruits. Full body, some carbonation. Finishes strong with a full bourbon oaked flavor. Lived up to the hype. Very very good.

Part of the rare stout tappings at the Flying Saucer SA. Served in a snifter. Dark rich hue with great lacing. A significant but not overpowering bourbon presence in the aroma. Great balance to this beer that makes it very enjoyable to drink. Roasted coffee. Some dry fruit lends complexity. A moderate alcohol note of the finish.

Yes this beer is awesome. Personally I don’t love "coffee" beers, but there is alot of other good stuff going on in this one. Aroma smacks of coffee, but also some creamy sweetness. Taste has less coffee - just heavily roasted malt - and more of the sweet malt and barrel notes. the beer finishes with coffee flavors. Palate is good - full/thick with a sticky sweet finish. Overall really tasty, but I have a hard time justifying the hype. Mostly that relates to my personal distaste for outright coffee flavors.

12oz bottle compliments of AndyReynolds - pours black with light brown head. Nose is wood, bourbon and coffee. Sips adds booze, roast/burnt coffee and dark fruit. I had coffee breath before and still do. Complex bitterness. Vanilla aftertaste.

A: Dark Opqaue Hue, Passes No Light, Brownish Head Ring, Some Lacing
S: Espresso, Bitter Coffee, Chocolate, Mild Bourbon, Mildly Nutty
T: Coffee, Chocolate, Mild Bourbon
M: Decent Carbonation, Medium to Full Bodied, Mildly Bitter
Overall, this beer is what it is...I just wish that there was more of a barrel presence in it but the coffee either overtook it or the barrel just was prominent enough. Great Trade Bait.

Bottle courtesy of canihavefourbeers. Strong chocolate nose bunts of booze and vanilla. Taste is the same. Think this one may be an older bottle as the coffe is muted. Great beer though. Could drink this all day. They should can this. Slightly bitter as I drink more.
