COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

Absolutely one of my favorites. Look forward to it each year. Prefer it fresh but still excellent with a year or two of age on it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Appearance is small brown head and nearly black. Aroma is chocolate and chocolate. Taste is a nice balance between chocolate, coffee, and aged bourbon. Overall one of the very good stouts out there.

full body, thick feel, average carbonation, soft carbonation, long finish, roasty, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, black, minimal head. I didn’t like this year’s as much as others, but still a fantastic stout

Pours very dark brown with small light brown fully diminishing head. Heavy malty aroma with notes of roasted malts, dark chocolate, dark coffee. Moderate hoppy aroma with notes of spruce and resin. Moderate yeast aromas with notes of leather. Heavy notes of whiskey, vanilla and alcohol. Flavor is moderate sweet, heavy bitter, and moderate acidic. Long finish, moderate salty. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is lively, medium astringent, heavy alcoholic finish. First beer with whiskey aromas I kinda like.

3550ml bottle (Kitty’s, Helsinki) (7+:4:7+:4:14+=3.6+++)
Initially a chocolate and vanilla aroma, later lots of espresso. Sweet palate, but pleasant carbonation, not too sticky. Full rich coffee, chocolate, and bourbon taste - has warming heat. What’s thre is nice, bit it’s not beer, it’s just a bottle of adjuncts. After only a few minutes in the glass, it’s warmed up enough to start smelling boozy. And those vapours go up the back of the nose too. Are you sure this isn’t just a decent beer with bourbon added? Whatever, the mixture’s tasty.

Such a great stout. Similar to Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout, but superior in my opinion as th bourbon isn’t as overpowering

Colour: blackest black. Decent head that stays for a while. Aroma: booze/bourbon, vanilla, oak, caramel, sweet fruit (melon/watermelon?), honey -- very pleasant, and not over the top. Silky smooth body, almost syrupy. Taste: sweet, mellow, dark chocolate, gentle alcohol bite; barrel influence is very much present, but not overpowering. Aftertaste is warming, quite bitter (coffee really shines here), and nicely balances the sweetness. So glad I have one more bottle of this.
