A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2012 A: Dark dark brown-black with a thin tan-brown head that doesn’t last long... not much in the way of lacing S: Rich roasted coffee, a blast of bourbon, vanilla, dark chocolate, caramel and general roasted malt scents.. very bold and complex T: Sweet vanilla tip before the rich coffee taste dominates with its chocolate and caramel tones... bourbon finishes off the flavor profile... you know that characteristic oak-spice burn with jack? ... yeah this beer has a bit of that at the end and its lovely... M: Smooth, full bodied, velvety, slight burn at the end O: Delicious. The smoothness really helps this monster go down... the only thing holding this baby back is the flavor complexity... its got a tad too much going on to keep drinking many of these... but thats not a bad thing at all!

Pours pitch black with a one finger tan head with excellent lacing. Aroma is of roasted malts, bourbon, dark coco, vanilla, molasses, woody notes, coffee, and licorice. Taste is bourbon, coffee, dark and milk chocolate, vanilla, roasted malts, burnt wood, butterscotch, anise, licorice, dark fruits, caramel, and just a little booze in the finish. Has a medium-full body with a super creamy, oily mouthfeel and a semi bitter, warming, slightly hot,.long finish. Overall, a amazing, world class stout that hides its high abv very well and has some amazing bourbon, coffee, and, and vanilla notes.

12oz bottle poured into snifter. Pours jet black with dark thick head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of coffee with hints of sweet chocolate and alcohol. Coffee forward flavor with some bitterness followed by slight bourbon notes and alcohol. More coffee forward thanI expected but overall a very solid beer.

12 oz bottle into a tulip glass. Pours black, with a small tan head that rapidly fades. Nose is coffee and dark roast malt. Taste is dark roast malt, espresso coffee, and bourbon on the finish. Very, very good. One of the best American beers I have had. Outstanding.

Bottle, 2015 release. Pours thick black with a medium sized creamy light brown head. Earthy coffee, chocolate and light bourbon in the nose. Smells great. Flavour has lots of bourbon; vanilla, coconut and white chocolate, cocoa, oak, warming alcohol, salty liquorice, rum soaked raisins. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation, heavy sweet with balanced bitterness. Long finish with lingering bourbon. Good stuff, but also punchy, would like to try an older edition to see if it settles down.

Bottle enjoyed at Cafe Sara
Pours dark, black in glass with a big brown head. Smell of dark dark malts, roast coffee, vanilla cocoa and hints of oak. Heavy heavy sweet, dark malts, chocolate, vanilla, a touch of bourbon and oak. Moderate bitter finish, coffee tail. A bit too sweet for my taste. The flavors are good balanced off.

(Bottle, 0.355 l - 2015 vintage - bottled on 02/12/2015, at Viisi Penniä, 20150502) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had vanilla, chocolate, coffee, cocoa and burnt malts. Palate was full bodied and dryish with medium carbonation. Flavours were vanilla, dark chocolate, sweetness, cocoa, coffee, wood and bitterness. Aftertaste had wood, vanilla, burnt malts and bitterness. Not really my kind of brew: too heavy vanilla, too much booze and too sweet. Still not bad though.

Possibly the nicest beer I’ve ever drank. It is dark, rich, has a strong bourbon taste and an aftertaste like an Irish coffee.

Dark black with tan lacing. Aroma is bourbon. Taste is coffee followed by the bourbon back. If you’re not a fan of bourbon probably not your beer.
