Ungstrup (10794), Frederiksberg, Denmark Feb 21, 2007 Bottled. A pitch black beer with no head. The aroma is sweet alcoholic combined with notes of malt and soy sauce. The flavor is sweet mlaty with notes of caramel, alcohol, and chocolate, leading to a dry end, where a note of cocoa beans lingers. The alcohol burns slightly in the mouth. Papsoe (9656), Frederiksberg, Denmark Feb 17, 2007 (Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours completely black and opaque with a light brown head - almost tar-like. Very burned aroma - ashtrayish. The body surprisingly only appears medium, with roasted, burned malt accents and some bourbon. A dry, bitter finish. Not bad, but there’s simply many much better barrel aged impys out there. Black coloured with a beige ehad.
Light roasted aroma of coffee and vanilla.
Light roasted flavour of coffee, wood, vanilla and alcohol. sk8viking (6028), Copenhagen, Denmark Nov 8, 2006 Bottle thanks to the boys from Ølbaren. Black colour with a big brown head. Heavy, Rosted, coffee, light chocolate, light whisky aroma and taste. Full body with a light whisky finish. argo0 (6004), Washington DC, USA Apr 22, 2006 (12oz bottle, thanks for sharing BuckNaked) Small brown head atop brown-black body. Aroma is moderately sweet, cocoa, coffee, milk chocolate, some roast, light bourbon. Taste is moderately sweet, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, oak, earthy. Watery medium-full body, alcohol well hidden. Gentle bourbon/oak helps balance and thereby improves the Breakfast Stout, which I generally have found too coffeeish.
