Ofortuna (285), Grafton, Wisconsin, USA May 10, 2008 From my backlog. Beautiful pour with a tan whipped-cream head. Huge oak, vanilla and bourbon aroma that lead me into the first sip. The same in the flavour except for a nice creamy texture that gives a wonderful sensation on the palate. Decent viscosity and an odd carbonation present. A bit like Unibroue with a slight yeasty presence. Not my cup of tea here, but everything else about this is wonderful. Coffee, more vanilla, a bit of chocolate all square-dance on my tongue. Nice complementary bitterness on the backend. Very well done!

Bottle shared courtesy of MABZ, thanks for the opportunity.
Poured a nice black color, with hues of red when held to the light. Tan colored head with a tid bit of lacing. Smell was very nice, fresh roasted coffee with a hint of vanilla and some nice wood and bourbon notes as well. Taste was even better. The coffee started out but quickly I noticed a nice wooden and bourbon flavor, paired with vanilla and hints of cocoa. Mouthfeel had low carbonation and was on the lighter side of full bodied, but still relatively thick. I’d love to have more of this and look forward to getting some when it’s released again. If you see any of this on the shelves, run, don’t walk and grab all that you can. aoa56 (11), zeeland, Michigan, USA Jun 28, 2008 Pours black with a dark brown head, and smells slightly of bourbon. The initial taste is a mix of coffee and chocolate that gives way to a slightly bitter bourbon aftertaste, with hints of vanilla. Actully drank with my scrambled eggs and bacon, and am still recovering from a massive mouth orgasm. bleeng (261), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA Jun 24, 2008 This is as good as it gets. 12 oz bottle. Solid black with a small brown head. Nose of chocolate, wheat (?) and not overwhelming whiskey. Taste of chocolates, strawy, and whiskey in just the right amount. Body/mouth is what does this beer-chewy, thick, viscous, rich, like eating chocolate cake. Just a great beer. I need more of these... sunevdj (1340), Copenhagen, Denmark Jun 22, 2008 Big thanks to Mreusch for trading me this one. Pours opaque black with a small light brown head and hints of lacings. Smells of bourbon. Sweet and quite bitter. Aromas of coffee, toasted malts and dark chocolate. Full bodied. Quite low carbonation. Very bitter finish with more aromas of toasted malts and bourbon. daknole (484), Plantation, Florida, USA Jun 8, 2008 So I finally get to try this beer....wow what a brew! Amazing. Totally black like soy sauce...no real head at all. Aromas are malty, bourbon, vanilla, and coffee...oh yes coffee. Flavors of coffee, vanilla, bourbon, chocolate. A hint of tartness creeps up on you and folk do yourself a favor:...eat some dark chocolate with this brew. Wow.
