4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle. Pours a very clear, light amber with no head. Aroma of caramel, light bourbon, some malty sweetness. Taste was similat with even more complexity - oak, light bourbon and vanilla, sticky sweetness. If I didnít know this had been aged in maple oak barrels, Iím not sure I would have been able to tell that the some of the sweetness was maple, but all of the complexities of the beer mesh together nicely. Creamy, smooth, slightly boozy, some more bourbon - a very complex finish. The finish of this beer is really special - everything that is good about this beer just comes to life in the finish. Overall, very tasty beer. Too bad Iíve only got 1 more bottle to drink!

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle received in trade. Thank you much umich03jm! Pours hazy reddish golden with a rather small goldenish offwhite head that leaves some sparse spotty trace on the glass while quickly dissipating. Smell is malty and herbal with sweet, white bread, caramel, toffee, charred wood, toasted nuts, pepper mint, hay, soil, bourbon alcohol and hints of cardboard. Taste is sweet, bitter, malty and tiny herbal with sweet white bread, caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, charred wood, maple syrup, bourbon alcohol, coconut milk, brazil nuts, caramelized almonds and hints of cardboard and peppermint. Mouthfeel is soft, round, tiny astringent, boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, charred wood, brazil nuts, caramelized almonds, bourbon alcohol, peppermint and hints of cardboard. Clearly oxidized, especially in the smell which is a pity, but this still puts on a malty nutty show. Iíve tried to catch this for some time now and Iím sad I didnít succeede until now. Most likely much better a few years ago.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
(Bottle) Pours hazy orange red with a small head. The aroma holds efter eight chocolate (mint and dark, tart chocolate), oxidized leather notes, syrup, some wood and fairly deep malt. The flavour is medium sweet, medium bitter and tiny acidic with nuts, caramel, mint, alcohol, light wood, syrup and bitter hop. The mouthfeel is numbing and clean, yet somewhat soft with a light to medium carbonation. Medium to full bodied.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from the rotter via trade. Pour is nearly flat with only a very tiny head that dies quickly. A maple like booziness that reminds me of marshmallows and booze. A honey malt sweetness to the aroma underneath. Holy wowsers. Taste is initially moderate vanilla and honey then a touch of boost Unfortunately, then the malt kind of falls flat with a light peppery finish. Iím afraid this is just past its prime, but still a very good treat nonetheless. Papery oxidation is low to medium unfortunately, which I think is why the malt dies out. overall glad I drank it and Iíll finish the glass :)

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle generously given to me by dmac! Thanks bro! Pours a hazy burnt orange color with almost no head. Aroma of strong boozy bourbon, caramel, maple syrup, and candied oranges. Taste of dry oak, bourbon, caramel, grass, with a maple aftertaste, and light oxidation. Held up nicely! Glad I had the opportunity to try this!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle courtesy deyholla - thanks! Pours cloudy rich amber with tons of clumpy protein floaties. Tiny mostly secondary beige head lingers as a brush on the surface generating some lacing. Aroma is rich malty, butterscotch, bourbon, perhaps a touch of cardboard. Flavor is malty and rich, fully sweet, light finishing bitterness, butterscotch, salt water taffee, bourbon, vanilla. No real maple left, but I think it influences some of the unidentified easter candy notes I am picking up. Fullish body, creamy mouthfeel, Fairly hot. Some oxidization for sure, but pretty tasty after all this time.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
May 19, 2014 - bottle via trade. Brownish orange pour with limited head and some sediment. Aroma was sweet maple, bourbon, caramel and some vanilla. As it warmed, then the wood came out in the aroma. Taste still had quite a bit of sweetness, but also was very woody. The bourbon was strong in the aroma, but was rather tame in the taste. Little bit of dry alcohol in the finish. Smooth drinking and full bodied.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
14-MAY-2014, bottle @Churchkey, Washington DC. Courtesy of a fantastic bartender - and free beer is always good - but this one is fantastic:-)
Slightly hazy orange with lasting low off-white head. Does not look like a four year old beer.
Aroma is bourbon, malt, honney, sweetness, hops too...?
Taste is the same. with also nuts, alcohol, orange peel, and some hops in the form of grape fruit and pine. Sweet but never too much. Carbonation is a bit on the soft side. Perhaps that makes it seem a bit thinner than it is? Because it is not that bit thick sirupy monster that I would have guessed. But still a fantastic brew. Thanks again to a bartender that I did not get the name of:-)

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle thanks to Jeff for sharing. Aroma is mostly anise/licorice with dark fruits, caramel, and wheat. Tastes like an anise bomb now. Pretty crazy how this beer has developed. I never wrote down my review when I had this fresh but I know I loved it. It just didnít age very well. Itís still got a nice mouthfeel and thereís a touch of booze in the finish.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: NOV 6, 2014 [Bottle / 4 years old] Thanks for the nice extra, Corey! Pours a murky-ish, burnt orange & amber shaded color with no real head... just a few stray bubbles occasionally coming to the top. Aroma has plenty of maple left; also getting notes of flowers, wood, sweet butterscotch, toffee, bourbon, vanilla, wheat-y esters, & a strong blend of mint, anise, & licorice. Taste has more butterscotch & maple syrup with a mellowed out bourbon character. More licorice, again, with a back-end, minty/anise feel to it. Sweet fruit in the aftertaste... A weird plum/pineapple combo; dark-fruity & almost tropical at the same time. Boozy finish. Thick, swampy mouth feel with low carbonation. Itís simply decent, but itís not great. No real oxidation taking place yet (at least on this bottle), but at this point in time, Sweet Repute is far better. Perhaps a little harsh on my rating because I was let down... This was supposed to age better!
