COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The 2010 release of Nemesis is best described by our brewing team as “a dark barley wine that pours black with a subtle mahogany hue. Brewed with 5 malts and no shortage of hops for a pleasantly bitter booming flavor. Roasty and toasty with a multitude of tastes that melts on your tongue”.

draft. pours dark brown with big tan foamy head. a hoppy and sweet aroma - grapefruit and pine hop notes with caramel undertones. the flavor is big and sweet with maple syrupy and piney hop notes. this is kind of a mess, astringent alcy sugar bomb and truly palate wrecking. just not my thing.

12 oz bottle courtesy of queenholly. Pours dark as molasses, deep brown, almost black. Quite a bit darker than barlywines I’ve had. No head or lace to speak of. Rich dark fruit aromas with chocolate notes. Also, secondary scents of earthy hops and booze. Delicious, malty flavor with vanilla undertones. Fair amount of pine resin. Full, heavy palate with a warming boozy finish. Wonderful.

Dark, near black pour. Sweet rich smell. Taste is sweet and malty with some hops shockingly enough. Some anise in the finish is my only complaint. Great beer, sad I'm down to just one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours black with thin tan head that retains. Aroma is tobacco, leather, smoke, and dark fruit. Flavor is dark fruit, leather, caramel, and citrus hoppiness (even though it’s two years old). Very nice, but a tad too bitter, even with age.

Originally reviewed: 1/10/11. Picked up a bottle of this at City Beverage months ago when it was released. Poured into a chalice. Pours a dark coffee-color with a thin tan head on top. Faint lace left behind. Nose is sweet with notes of syrup, molasses, plum, licorice, and brown sugar. The body is hefty with a smooth backing. Flavors of dark fruits, alcohol, black licorice, roasted malt. This is really rich. Not a easy-drinker, more like a late-night sipper. Should have allowed this one to sit for a bit more time. Glad I grabbed it anyways...

Dark brown pour with reddish notes. Small white head. Aromas of molasses, brown sugar, some alcohol. Taste is sweet, slight alcohol burn, and notes of some fruit, like dates. Little carbonation and sticky texture. Overall, another good beer from Founders. Good flavor that gets better as it warms.

Hopefully it was this one. 12.0%. Dark ruby color, small off-white head. Aroma of rye bread and caramel. Medium to full bodied. Flavor of rye, bread, soya sauce and piney hops. Later some licorice too. Quite hoppy barley wine, but very malty too.

Bottle as an extra in one of my December trades, and an excellent one at that. Aroma was of gummy caramel and molasses. Flavor had anise, vanilla, toasted malt, bread pudding, and caramel. Excellent beer. I really like this one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sample at the Ping Pong, Foosball, and Great Beer tasting on 03/03/2012. The beer pours dark brown, nearly black with a medium light brown head that dissipates steadily. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and caramel plus ripe fruit. Full-bodied with flavors of dark fruit, anise, toasted malt and caramel. The finish is roasty with a full malty aftertaste. Good beer that is holding up well.

Black with a light tan, short head, leaves a murky top. Smells roasty, burnt, chocolate, bready, bittersweet. Tastes of burnt, coffee/espresso, quite dark chocolate, sweet and spicy up front, malty in the middle, piney and burnt bitterness in finish with some bittersweet chocolate really hanging on. Thick and creamy. A lot more chocolatey than I’d expect to find in a barleywine. Very complex, well balanced and surprising and pleasant at every turn

12 oz bottle from Armin - grazie. Pours a dark brown color with a tan head with a decent lace. Nose is big and malty with a chocolate, caramel and raisin aroma. Taste is on the sweet side with brown sugar, roasted malt, coffee, and some hops in the finish. Decent carbonation and a long dark cocoa finish. Nice stuff.
