Had this on tap at a special Founders tasting at Dilly Deli in Cincinnati. Served in a snifter glass. Pinkish, light red in color with light head. Aroma reminded me of bourbon flavored cherries. Compared to the Black Biscuit, the bourbon was a little more subtle, but still present. Definite cherry taste, but not so much as the Cerise, with maple and bourbon flavors toning down the cherry flavor a bit. Not as tart as you might expect from a cherry flavored beer, but a nice sweetness. Bourbon and cherry flavors linger for a rich finish. Certainly not a session beer, but surprisingly drinkable as the sweetness and cherry flavors were mellowed out a bit by the bourbon. I enjoyed a second glass

UPDATED: JUN 15, 2009 On tap at founders. Pours a darker, strawberry red with a light pink head. This one was nitro. Aroma of mostly cherries with a hint of caramel. I love this beer. It starts of with almost a caramel apple flavor to me, then an after taste of cherries. This reminds me of Founders Cherise, but much sweeter.

draft at the brewpub: red with fizzy bubbles, aroma of bourbon, taste is bourbon, sour cherry, slightly carbonated, light but the bourbon takes this beer to a different level...glad I got to try

Tasted on draft at Whole Foods Lincoln Park. Pours blood orange with a thin white head that, despite its size, displays excellent retention. The nose is sweet and tart cherry with the vanilla, coconut, and oak aromas of bourbon. The flavor is complex vanilla, coconut, cinnamon, and oak bourbon with the addition of fresh cherries. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long cherry and bourbon finish. I only have one question: Where was this delicious beer at FoBAB?

Ruby colored pour with a small, loose, white head. Rich dark cherry aroma, with a healthy dose of bourbon and vanilla, and a little hint of biscuit malt. The flavor is medicinal but not off putting. Almost like a Luden’s cough drop. Lots of tart cherries, some pie spice, and finishing with a long vanilla and sherry note. Sticky, full body with soft carbonation.

On tap at Founders - December 29, 2010. Pours a beautiful pinkish-red color with a slight tint of brown. Thin off-white head with decent retention and then falling into a thin collar. The nose is absolutely incredibly with loads of cherry plus really nice notes of bourbon and maple syrup. There’s some booze in there, but certainly is not overwhelming and goes quite well in that it is somewhat like a bourbon-soaked cherry. The taste is similar but not quite as intense and the booze takes over a bit more. Not as much maple as in the nose. The feel is a bit boozy, though not too far in the wrong direction. Drinks really, really well and I would love to have this again. I love how Founders never ceases to amaze me as each time I go there I find another barrel-aged treasure. UPDATED: JUN 15, 2009 On tap at brewery. Pours a reddish amber with a pink fzzy head and thick cherry aromas. Flavor is sweet and syrupy cherries with a little bit of a tart pie cherry finish. This is fairly thick stuff, which is an interesting change of pace from your average fruit beer.

Pours reddish-orange with a light haze and small white head. The aroma is initially bourbony, but subsequent whiffs give more cherry and maple sweetness & eventually everything blends to a unique rich cherry flavor. Medium / full body that starts smooth and silky with a good amount of prickly carbonation. The flavor starts with a smoothness from the bourbon, but that taste doesn’t overpower the rest. There are cherries with maple smoothing out the tartness and makes it quite rich. The finish has some phenolic spice and lingering maple cherry taste. Great unique beer experience.
