Nitro, on tap at Ashley’s in Ann Arbor, this stout has a very fine, super dense head atop a very dark brown, almost pure black colored body. It looks seriously thick. I’m full just looking at it. It smells super smooth and very roasted. Yes… very smooth. The very dense head coats the top lip as a seriously sweet, roasted malt flavor coats the tongue. The roast bitterness is harsh, but doesn’t linger long, allowing a sweet oat flavor to entertain the palate. It’s a sweet, and very much like a traditional English stout, with oats softening the dense, dark experience. It’s very nice, with a very clean, slightly doughy finish.

On tap at Blue Monk in Buffalo, NY. Nitro tap. Nice dark pour and foamy nitro head. Velvety smooth. Some chocolate, cinnamon, caramel flavor. Very sweet and creamy. Impressive beer considering the low ABV.

Nitro at craft ale house. Pours black with a frothy brown head. It’s a gorgeous pour. The aroma has hints of chocolate, cereal, toffee , coffee. The taste is semi sweet roasted malt, light coffee, light bitter chocolate. Palate is excellent on Nitro and really highlights the easy to drink nature.

Tap at brixx Charlottesville - pours pitch with a thick, pillowy tan head that slowly settles to about a finger of head. Aroma is roasted without going into burnt territory. Taste is sweet with a thicker palate. Finishes slightly bitter and dry. Overall, a good example of the style, though I do wish the flavor and aroma were more pronounced.

Nitro draft at Brixx Charlottesville. Pours black with an inch of khaki foam that leaves a lot of lacing. Nice roasted chocolate on the nose and the tongue. The lactose balances the roasted chocolate nicely. Finishes clean. Very nice!

Really enjoyed this pillowy brew from Founders. Super malty and biscuity, roasted oats and toffee take the stage. Some creamy foam on top, with insane head retention. Sessionable and delicious. Well done!

On nitro at Crunchys. Heavy roast coffee aroma. Dark pour with a standard nitro creamy head. Smooth feel and heavy roast coffee and chocolate flavor.

Milk chocolate and light roast coffee on the nose. Almost black but with a ruby edge, and fully retaining, beige head foam. Dry, roasty, smokey, savory, and bitter. Medium bodied with frothy carbonation, and an earthy, roasty finish.
