nitrotap @ brewpub....aroma: malt and a little roast. couldn’t garnish much more than that unfortunately...appearance: nice settling from the nitropour, very deep black with an attractive thick tan head.....tasteL oats, malt, and chocolatey. lovely creamy mouthfeel to it. like others mentioned, similar to guinness but a slight notch above.

Sweet chocolate nose on this black pour with a lovely mocha colored head. Very sweet with notes of chocolate and flakes of oatmeal.

Pours a pitch black color with a thin creamy light brown head. Appealing aroma of chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor also has the chocolate / roasted malt combo but it feels weaker than in the aroma. The body is light while the carbonation is moderate.

UPDATED: FEB 21, 2007 WHAT an amazingly refreshing, cool, smooth, perfect stout. This is always my fallback drink at Founder’s...whenever everything else sounds uninteresting, this is the one that makes me happy. Wonderful, sweet, flowery flavor comes in behind a slightly nutty flavor. Fantastically creamy, black, white head, far better than a Guinness. If you’re a Guinness fan do yourself a favor and try this.

nitro tap at brewpub-pours black with a foamy kacki colored topping. buttery chocolate nose with some notes of butterscotch candy. quite a bit of diacytl here. The only beer i have ever had from them with diacytl. under all the diacytl, there is a nice amount of char with some nice roast. nitro body is to be desired here and hinders it with all the diacytl. I was really looking forward to this one but i was let-down.

On tap at the brewpub on 4/28/06: Pours a rich opaque black with a dense, frothy creamy tan head. Lightly sweet, subtle caramel malty aroma has some mild roasted notes. Body starts lightly sweet, mildly earthy and roasty with a dry bittering mocha roasted finish. A nicely-balanced and enjoyable sweet stout.

Draft at Founders. Black body with a light tan head, nitro pour with heavy lacing. The aroma is light oat, light roast, but is light as is expected with nitro. The flavor is oatmeal, dry and roasty. Creamy mouthfeel.

Black opaque color with very lightly, almost white head. Aroma is sharp, hint of roastyness. Flavor is slightly roasty, fair amount of coffee, slight creamyness, with mild bitterness in the finish.

Nitrogen pour at the brewery. I was not impressed at all with this. This looks great, as expected with a nitrogen pour. Very little arom, some roasted malt i think. Flavor and texture is watery. Not much flavor. a little roast and a little chalky oatmeal. uninspired.
