3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nitro-tap at the brewery.
Pours near black with a fairly-thick tan head with pretty good retention, though nothing exceptional for a nitro beer. A bit of lacing on the way down. The nose brings a good amount of roast plus some chocolate and a slight amount of coffee. The toast is dry and quite roasty. Chocolate and coffee there. Mouthfeel is a bit too roasted and dry; medium body. Drinks quite well and is one of the better oatmeal stouts I’ve had, though nothing really stands out here.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
tap at the brewpub last summer - Pours near black with a lingering head and a fairly mild aroma of roast malt. It tastes of roast malt, coffee, and is pleasantly bitter. I think it’s too much bitterness for a "sweet stout", but it’s a pretty good, medium bodied stout.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours deep brown with a full nitro head. Nose is chocolate and oatmeal, some milky notes. Really creamy from the nitro, very dry. Not bad, but I like my oatmeal stouts with some sweetness.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Man, this is tasty stuff! Served with a fine, foamy, creamy, light brown head that lasts a while and lots of lace. Color is an opaque brown black. Aroma is roast, toast, cocoa, malt. Taste is like nose and has a great bitter/sweet balance off set with a little carbonic tang that works perfectly. Body is great and so is carbonation. Finish is like flavor and fairly long. Session beer for slower drinking.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Founders brewpub. Dark brown with a cream tan head. Aroma is standard oatmeal stout with oatmeal, roasted malt and coffee. Body is creamy but a bit thin and chalky. Oatmeal, roasted dark malts and some coffee make up the flavor bill. While it’s not bad, I much prefer my Founders stout in the breakfast variety.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On nitro draft at Founders. An easy to drink, smooth stout that has flavors of chocolate, roasted malts, and just enough hops to add a mildly bitter finish. Nothing over the top, but easily enjoyable.
