COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Founders take on a classic style, brewed with a generous amount of flaked oats, chocolate malt, roasted barley and a healthy helping of Nugget hops, Founders Oatmeal Stout is nitrogen-infused to give it an extra smooth and creamy mouthfeel. An attractive cascade effect gives this beer its forthright visual appeal—and the body and clean flavor delivers on that initial promise.

Good traditional oatmeal stout and the nitro makes it better. Roasted malt and coffee aroma. Dark brown and frothing with the standard cascading found with nitro. Smooth and creamy with low carbonation. Really nice. Subtle chocolate and oat flavors with toast and coffee. Mild but blended nicely.

Deep piceous black pour with two fingers of creamy mocha tan head. Density of head makes it difficult to grasp aromatics. Soft and subtle dark malt notes in the nose, hints of roast and cacao with lightly earthy notes as well. Lightly smokey and roasty in the flavor with some earthy malt and lightly metallic character. Medium light body.

Draft, pours black with creamy head. Chocolate aroma. Taste is dry roasted malt and chocolate, pretty easy to drink.

On tap at Blue Monk. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma was dark malts, hints of chocolate, and vanilla. Taste was roasted malts and a bit of chocolate, but otherwise nothing impressive. Seemed kind of light for a stout.

Draft. Pours a dark brown. Very smooth roasted maltiness taste with no bitterness.

On tap in a pint glass. Pours black with a beige head typical of a nitro stout. Aroma of dark malts but light everything else. Flavor the same with the nice roastiness but sort of watery other than that. Average texture. Nitro might take away from this beer.

Charcoal black with beige. The nice look of a nitro pour. Oats, strawberries with cream, wet wood aroma. Excellent malt structure is evident with warming, and the notes become more clear. Graham, chocolate, and brown sugar.

Pit fruit, hazelnut, caramel flavor; again, indisputably excellent malt layering.

The body is light but not hollow. The finish shows a bittersweet root flavor and black cherry. Another excellent michigan stout. More body would push those malts even more, but the absence of that allows this offering to stand out in Founders’ portfolio.

Black pour with fluffy khaki head. Nose and taste were malty, nutty, with a touch of sweetness. Palate was perfectly creamy. Enjoyed it.
